Description

Mamacita Foundation is looking for dedicated volunteers who are fluent in foreign languages and English to assist our non-English speaking service users. Volunteers will provide translation services and tutoring to help individuals improve their English language skills and better integrate into the community.

Responsibilities:

Provide translation services for service users who do not speak English.
Assist with tutoring sessions to help individuals improve their English language skills.
Support service users in understanding important documents and communications.
Help facilitate communication between service users and staff or other volunteers.
Prepare and provide language learning materials and resources.
Encourage and motivate service users to practice and improve their English.

Restrictions

Experience required: Fluency in English and at least one other language. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patience and a supportive attitude towards language learners. Reliable and punctual with a commitment to scheduled tutoring and translation sessions. Previous experience in translation or language tutoring is a plus. DENNY AND DUNIPACE CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU ARE SEEKING TO RECRUIT 10 VOLUNTEERS. To help provide effective and efficient advice to members of the public, carry out admin duties and develop the bureau. Main Duties include: •Interviewing clients – listen to the client and let the client explain the problem. Help the client to clarify the issues by exploring the problem and asking questions •Giving information - Use Advisernet and other reference materials to find the relevant information, communicate that information to clients •Giving advice – explain the information to the client and the choices that the client has, so they can decide what to do •Give practical help – Fill in forms on paper or online, do benefit checks using appropriate calculation tools, speak to or contact other agencies on behalf of the client, with the client’s consent. •Complete clear case records •Recognise the root cause of problems and participate in taking action •Carry out admin duties. •Carry out reception duties. Denny and Dunipace CAB run a comprehensive training programme for Trainee Advisers which provides support and mentoring with an experienced Adviser. In return, your travel expenses will be reimbursed by the Bureau and there is access to external training once all initial training is completed. Many Advisers have gained useful experience and qualifications whilst volunteering for Denny and Dunipace CAB which have helped them gain employment.

Welcome Service Volunteers

We are looking for dedicated and friendly volunteers to help welcome and assist service users at Mamacita Foundation events and services. Volunteers will provide support and information to immigrants and newcomers to Aberdeen, helping them settle and integrate into the community. Responsibilities: Greet and welcome service users at events and service locations. Provide information and guidance on available services and resources. Assist immigrants with settlement information, including housing, healthcare, and local amenities. Support service users in completing necessary forms and applications. Facilitate connections between service users and relevant support agencies. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of local resources and services.

Volunteer Board Member

Board members are responsible for the strategic management of each bureau, including oversight of planning, evaluation, staffing, managing finances and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. Skills and experience are welcome, but training is provided. Interest in the community and bureau is most important.
