Are you a dedicated and organised person, passionate about helping others? Join our night-time party and lots of other volunteers at The MoonWalk Scotland on Saturday 7th September 2024 from Holyrood Park, Edinburgh! Bring your energy and by helping the thousands of women and men, walking an overnight marathon in decorated bras, raising lots of money for breast cancer!

We recruit hundreds of Volunteers to make The MoonWalk a safe and enjoyable event; looking after our Walkers as they take to the streets of Edinburgh overnight, and above all giving them the encouragement they need to complete their epic challenge.

Join in the party atmosphere in Dynamic Earth on Saturday Evening, with help needed from around 6 PM through till midnight. A busy period when our Walkers and Volunteers arrive en masse, from litter picking, to registering baggage, to handing out Volunteer uniforms or help managing the queues of excited Walkers, there is so much to get involved in!

The Night-Time is where the challenge really gets going for our amazing Walkers. If you like the nightlife, marshalling, or giving out water whilst surrounded by Edinburgh’s famous landmarks, this could be for you! Start times vary between 8 PM and midnight, depending on your role, and last on average 8 hours. We can also offer site-based roles at MoonWalk Arena throughout the night. Early finishes can of course be requested.
Finally, the early morning team take the helm on Sunday Morning, starting between 5-6 AM until midday. Watching the sunrise against an Edinburgh skyline is quite a sight to see! This truly is the most testing time for our Walkers… whether you join the route or MoonWalk Arena teams… your kind and motivating words could be all that is needed to get someone across that finish line!

On the night you will be provided with training, a t-shirt, cap and free light refreshments. All roles will develop teamwork and confidence, no matter what you do on the night… so why not bring your friends and family along to share this unique experience!

To join in the fun at this iconic event and Volunteer at the MoonWalk Scotland 2024, we will need you to officially register through our website by visiting https://walkthewalk.org/challenges/volunteering-the-moonwalk-scotland. We will ask you to fill in a short form to tell us a bit about yourself and confirm your availability for the event. Please note if you are under the age of 18 at the time of the event, you will need to register with a guardian over 18 who will also be Volunteering.

Walk the Walk is a grant-making breast cancer charity that is dedicated to raising money and awareness for vital breast cancer causes, also to encourage women, men and children to become more aware of their own potential for fitness and wellbeing.

All Volunteers are welcome! If you have a physical disability that may affect your Volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Team to discuss the most suitable role for you.
Experience required: You simply need a positive and hard-working attitude and be willing to help a great cause! In return, you will meet some amazing people, help to raise millions of pounds for breast and other cancers... plus have the most incredible time at one of Edinburgh’s most iconic events! It really is an opportunity to experience something truly unique, fun, and challenging where you can donate your time and skills. A Virtual Briefing will be held before the event, for you to meet the rest of the lovely Volunteers and Volunteer Team, as well as hear more about what you will get up to on the night! A specific Role Briefing and Volunteer Handbook will also be provided ahead of the night. All Volunteers must be over 13 years old - those between 13 and 17 must be accompanied by a guardian over 18 years old who is also Volunteering.
Travel details: Registration will take place at Dynamic Earth, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh, EH8 8AS Access to Volunteers registrations is via the entrance on Holyrood Gait.

Experienced individuals also have the opportunity to become Team Leaders.

Training details: Successful Volunteers will be invited to a Virtual Volunteer Briefing which will be held before the event. Meet the rest of the Volunteer Team, find out a bit more about what you will be doing on the night, as well as get up to date with all the latest information about our fabulous MoonWalk Edinburgh 2024! You will also receive Briefing Notes, specific to the role you have been allocated and a Volunteer Handbook! All Volunteers have a named Team Leader, who will give a short briefing at the beginning and remain in regular contact throughout the night.

Activity and Exercise Leaders

Dyce & Stoneywood Community Association is looking to recruit volunteers to help us with our programme, These opportunities are: • Running exercise classes such as Technogym: Technogym is a light exercise class with the use of machines to help people of low fitness get back into exercising. You will need to go through a 2 hour training session for health and safety. These classes run weekly and you will be working alongside another volunteer to help with running the class and cover. • Movie Club: We run a monthly movie club and would require someone who enjoys movies to help run this for us. • Youth Activities: such as Lego club and potential summer and holiday activities. PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups check/scheme membership) will be required. Fantastic opportunities to help and make a real difference for people and the community. Parkrun volunteers - Orkney

Kirkwall parkrun takes place every Saturday morning, starting at The Peedie Sea at 9.30am. It is an organised run, jog or walk which is free to participate in. Registration is online with participants printing off their personalised barcode which is scanned at the finish line to allow the results to be emailed to the participant. They are in need of volunteers to be marshalls, tail walkers, barcode scanners, handing out finishing tokens and being timekeepers. Both scanning and timekeeping will require use of the parkrun app so a mobile phone will be required.
