Description

The award winning Larick Centre has a beautiful community-run café on the edge of Tentsmuir Forest. It’s vibrant café serves Tayport and welcomes walkers, cyclists, centre users and locals, as well as providing catering for groups who use the centre.
The cafe is open seven days a week, 10am-4pm and has indoor and outdoor seating, and take away food and drink options.
The café serves hot & cold drinks, hot breakfasts, freshly made sandwiches, burgers, soup, cakes and tray bakes all with vegan, dairy and gluten free choices available.
They are looking for volunteers to help for a couple of hours a week, with front of house (serving customers, taking orders, clearing tables) and/or to assist with dishwashing and general kitchen duties. Whether you have experience or are looking to gain experience in the hospitality trade or other opportunities involving the public, then this could be the position for you.

Organisation aims and objectives

We are a Community Centre providing rooms for hire for private or community use, groups for families and young people as well as other volunteer led activities such as the Community Fridge. There is a cafe within the centre serving lunches as well as hot drinks and cakes etc.

They are looking for people who like interacting with the public, who have a friendly, polite manner and can manage the physical requirements of a busy café. Training will be provided so no experience necessary.

Travel details: The Larick Centre is in Shanwell Road in Tayport, DD6 9EA. It is on a bus route connecting both Glenrothes and St Andrews to Dundee. The centre has a large car park.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Public transport costs reimbursed or car travel at 45p per mile within a reasonable distance.
Training details: Induction to the centre and to the role of the volunteer as well as to the tasks required in the café. The volunteer will shadow experienced café staff until confident and will be trained in use of café equipment such as dishwashing and coffee machine.
