Would you be interested in preparing and serving wholesome snacks and lunches at a Community Cafe?
Would you be happy to chat to customers who will tend to be older people or perhaps those who are new to the area?
The Olive Branch cafe is open on a Thursday from 11am until 2pm serving teas/coffees, soup, sandwiches and home baking at a very reasonable cost. Customers are older people and others who may be isolated in the community, offering them a welcoming, safe environment to enjoy good food and company. It is hoped that volunteers will get involved in one or more of the following duties -
- preparing cafe area (putting out tables and chairs)
- serving and clearing up
- kitchen duties and dishwashing
- making soup and sandwiches
- operating a simple till
- greeting customers and befriending
-Welcome Aboard / Get Involved: AHOY! The Tall Ships Races are returning to Aberdeen in 19-22 July 2025. Be part of the celebration. The Tall Ships Aberdeen team are looking for help to give the international crews and visitors a warm Aberdeen welcome and make the Tall Ships Festival a huge success! There is a role for everyone.
-Roles: As a Tall Ships volunteer, you get to experience the event first hand. Take part in a wide variety of roles from Spectator Services, Media, Event Operations, Transport Coordinators, Liaison Officers, Crew Services, Protocol, Hospitality. Our aim is to make our volunteer programme inclusive, diverse and accessible to all. Please get in touch with any special requirements and take your place as a volunteer at the Tall Ships Races.
Liaison Officers: We need volunteers to act as a host to the ships and their crews while they are in port. Liaison Officers are the link between the ship, the crews, the city and the entire festival. They represent Aberdeen and help the ships with almost everything!

-Skills You Will Need:
• No experience necessary! We welcome everyone who loves the sea and wants to contribute! We will provide full training for your role during the festival.
• You must be 16 years or older as of 1 July 2025.
• Available to volunteer for approximately 3 shifts from 19 July – 22 July
• Liaison Officers are required to be available for training sessions in advance of the festival (approx. 4-8 hours) and the full festival dates.

We are looking for someone with who has an interest in developing their kitchen skills, with an enthusisic outlook towards food and to help with the production of food labels for our food project.
Signpost International is based at the Roundhouse and is a charity that supports communities to help them help themselves. In Dundee we run the Roundhouse Kitchen where we take food waste and turn this into healthy nutritious meals that are then distributed through the food larders across the city.
No Experience required. An interest in food and cooking.

We are starting a monthly coffee morning for people living with dementia or memory loss and their carers, to socialise and share experiences over a cuppa. Activities like jigsaws and puzzles will be available during the session. We will also have speakers and entertainers throughout the year.
The 4th Tuesday of the month (starting in September 2024 with an opening party on Wednesday 27th August)10:30am - 12:30pm.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are keen to help. The group is an opportunity to help reduce loneliness and isolation, for carers to socialise and find out useful information.
There are lots of volunteering opportunities connected with this group including:
• Helping members with tea and coffee;
• Supporting members with the activities;
• socialising with our members; and
• setting up and clearing away.
In return, we will provide appropriate training and regular supervision sessions with the dementia services development officer, invitations to volunteer events and payment of reasonable expenses.

Local pantries are designed to give dignified and affordable access to a selection of chilled and ambient foods and fresh fruit and vegetables. Your skills and experience will help: lead in the setting up of the Pantry. Taking delivery of products. Setting up products in a safe and appropriate manner. Ensuring that food is handled safely. Taking payment from members. Assisting members where necessary
Kitchen Assistant required to help out at busy local community Centre. No previous experience required. will involve helping with cooking cleaning and serving orders. You will be volunteering with a great bunch of volunteers and will receive full support in your role
We are seeking kind people to help run a cooking class and teach recipes you like to share! If you don't feel comfortable teaching a class, you could show your cooking/baking skills at our Youth Club, Phoenix Club and/or Pensioners Club!
The classes are built around you: age group, number of participants and length of the classes.
It's a great opportunity to gain confidence and skills!
All our volunteering classes are free for our members.

The Breadmaker is part of the Aberdeen Day Project - a registered charity, successful social enterprise, artisan bakery and coffee house.
We are seeking volunteers who would like to help in a coffee shop/bakery environment and also volunteer with a team to provide training and support for adults with learning disabilities in a working Coffee shop and Bakery environment.
We are also looking for volunteers who might be able to assist with outings , social events 1 to 1 peer support

Food Train is an award winning charity providing services to older people who are no longer able to manage independently, through age, ill health, frailty or disability. The Connects service offers a volunteer matching service for grocery shopping, telephone befriending and meal delivery.
Help to combat feelings of loneliness, isolation and malnutrition amongst older people (55+) by becoming a Volunteer Cook. You do not need to be a Jamie or Nigella to get involved – just the ability to prepare an extra portion of your meal once a week, to drop off with an older neighbour and have a light hearted blether with them. The role is fun, flexible and can be done at a time that suits you and your matched member!
*The Role:
· Paired with an older person to prepare an extra portion of your home cooked meal and deliver it to them at their home.
· Have a wee chat, agree times and dates for the next meal and serve up/help put the meal away as required.
· To report back to Food Train Connects team and complete all required documentation after each visit.
· To report any matters of concern to Food Train staff
· To inform Food Train Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints
· To maintain confidentiality
· To represent Food Train in a professional manner to customers and the wider community
