Marshalls and Cheer Squads for Run the Runway 2024. Glasgow Prestwick Airport

Description

Beatson Cancer Charity are absolutely delighted to be chosen as one of the charities; along with Doing it for Daniel Foundation and Ayrshire Hospice; for Run the Runway 2024 at Glasgow Prestwick Airport. This is a really exciting and unique event where participants get the opportunity to run the runway at the airport! This event is not just about running, it’s about making a difference. Participants have the option to run or walk 5K, or run 10K.

On Saturday 2nd November, we are looking for cheer squads and marshals to cheer on the runners and walkers and act as marshals, to make sure the event runs smoothly. Volunteers will be given a full briefing, Beatson T-shirts, lanyard and HiVis vests to wear as well as cuppa and a breakfast roll after the run.

As it is a really unique venue, runners will need guided from the car parks to the main terminal building to check in for the event. Check in opens from 6.30am ahead of the event starting at 8.00am. The event sold out in just two hours and we are expecting 400 runners on the day. The races must be completed by 11.00am so we have a lot of people to assist, getting them checked in and through to the runway and lots of cheering once they start.

It’s an early start! Volunteers will be needed on site from 6.30am till 11.30am as the event has to be completed and a full runway check done before the arrival of the first inbound flight at mid-day. You will be on your feet and busy throughout the morning. Free parking is available for all volunteers and we will pay all reasonable travel expenses for you too.

Unfortunately, spectators cannot be accommodated airside, so volunteering would be a wonderful way to support this event and to cheer on the runners and walkers.
