Description

Falkirk Foodbank believes that no one in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide up to five days nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

To support the work that we do, we are looking for a volunteer to help us create and manage our social media presence, share engaging content, and grow our online community. This is a great opportunity to make a difference to your community while gaining valuable experience!

Responsibilities will include:

  • Setting Up Social Media Pages: Create and manage our presence on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
  • Creating Engaging Content: Share posts and updates about our mission, events, and success stories.
  • Growing Our Community: Interact with followers and help us reach more people.

Organisation aims and objectives

Falkirk Foodbank provides emergency food to families and individuals who are facing a sudden crisis or food shortage. They provide to the whole of the Falkirk district and deliver to homes. They also provide toiletries, dog/cat food, white goods, etc, depending on the needs of the individual.

Restrictions

Experience required: It would be useful to have: experience with social media platforms; the ability to create engaging content; strong written communication skills; basic graphic design; understanding of social media analytics.
Travel details: Mostly remote but coming in to the Foodbank for content and getting to see the team!
Minimum age: 14

Third Level Foundation CIC are a community interest company (Social Enterprise and not for profit ). We operate around the areas of Middlefield, Fersands, Cornhill/Stockethill and Tillydrone. We provide counselling and workshops to provide support to the communities in the area of Wellbeing and Mental Health. As we are developing our services we are looking for someone who can support our social media and online presence. The role is for someone interested in learning about mental health and how we operate. This is a flexible role - some work can be carried out online at home and you would be welcome to work at the Community centre areas too. You will work closely with us on the detail and direction that we want to take - and we will be very interested in your thoughts and ideas. Our work is very interesting and varied. Initially we are looking for someone with experience who can offer a few hours a week. ( Currently we use Facebook, Twitter, Nextdoor, LinkedIn ). This role would include updating our Facebook page with current and upcoming events taking place within the Community Hub. This role may involve photography, interviewing staff, service users and other individuals connected with our services.

Social Media Support Volunteer - Facebook

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) saves and improves lives across Scotland, delivering expert paramedic care at the scene of time-critical emergencies. We have volunteers in various roles who help us in fundraising and admin to keep us flying and saving lives in Scotland. Our social media volunteers help staff manage our busy fundraising group pages. We have opportunities twice a year for up to 6 weeks, usually Feb/March and Sept/Oct. We are looking for additional support on a rota basis to suit you from Sept until early/mid Oct. We have hundreds of people across Scotland (and further!) in the group who are taking on fitness challenges while aiming for their personal fundraising target. The group is a supportive space to post their successes and ask any questions. Our team of staff and volunteers support the group by liking posts, encouraging them and answering any queries.
