Description

Are you interested in the welfare of seniors living in Ayrshire? Do you have a few hours a month to spare? If so, we would like you to volunteer with us and join our committee as Treasurer.
At Age Concern Ayr, we have two main resources - our Charity Shop and our Advice & Information Centre which provide opportunities for our local population to support its elderly community. Our shop offers loads of pre-loved items at great prices. The funds from this allow us to run a free and confidential advice and information service to help you and provide advice on benefits, general information and much more. Our Advice & Information centre exists to create the best possible outcomes for elderly people by providing practical support and advice to those experiencing a feeling of being left behind by amongst other things today’s technology where every application seems to be online and details asked for digitally.

Main duties:
Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the community benefit.
Comply with the charity's governing document.
Act in the charity's best interests.
Ensure the charity is accountable financially.
Manage the charity's resources responsibly.

Initially we would offer a period of shadowing our current Treasurer before taking office fully as Treasurer.

Organisation aims and objectives

Age Concern Ayr is a registered Charity in Scotland dedicated to protecting and promoting the wellbeing of the those aged 55+ in South Ayrshire. Age Concern Ayr is 100% funded by the Charity Shop and Public Donation and all money raised is used for the benefit of residents in South Ayrshire. We have been operating in South Ayrshire since the opening of our Charity Shop in 1975. Very quickly The Charity Shop proved to be a great success, but something else was needed. Customers to the shop were looking for advice on a number of topics ranging from benefits to details on local lunch clubs. Although the shop volunteers at the time dealt with these enquiries as best they could, it was evident that there was a local need for more. With funds that had been raised from the Charity Shop it was decided that an Advice & Information Centre would be established and after 13 years of hard work by dedicated Volunteers this was realised in late 1987.

We encourage people of all ages to apply.
Experience required: Good understanding/experience of bookkeeping/finance. Previous experience in managerial or committee work is not essential, although an asset. Good communication skills, able to work with other team members and an interest in the sector are required.

Taster available: Yes
Training details: Volunteers can choose to have a mentoring companion. Informal meetings are held regularly to update volunteers on any changes, committee requirements, etc.

Volunteer Treasurer

Grampian 50+ Network is a registered Scottish Charity for Older People's Walking Groups which operates across Grampian. With 44 groups in membership and almost 1000 members from Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire & Moray, the Network offers training, events and produces a regular newsletter. We now require a Treasurer to work with the committee and deal with a range of duties. The volunteering involved is not an every day duty, more to suit our events that we run several times each year along with paying accounts, volunteer expenses etc. The treasurer will be a trustee and attend Committee Meetings approx 6 times each year as well as attending our events. Trustee / Treasurer

Altens and Cove Community Association Centre is a local independent charity, run by volunteer Trustees and a small staff team from Altens Community Centre. Serving Altens and Cove, the centre offers a wide range of community activities, along with private hires of our meeting rooms, sports hall and community rooms, and a café. Our highly recommended Fishies Playgroup operates within Altens Community Centre on weekday mornings during term time. As we emerge from pandemic restrictions, we are looking for new trustees to join our friendly group of staff and trustees. In particular, we are seeking a treasurer to manage the association’s accounts in conjunction with the centre manager and other members of the board of trustees. The Centre provides a vibrant atmosphere and essential support for the community of Cove and Altens, and we would be pleased to welcome additional volunteers to our team. Volunteer Treasurer as part of the Management Committee

Kingswells Community Centre and Webster Park provide welcoming facilities for use by all members of the community and are continuing to develop and grow for the needs of our future generations. We currently require a volunteer to be a Treasurer on our Management Committee and would welcome anyone with finance experience to join us in helping develop our centres further and provide quality experiences for the community. It would involve attending regular 6 weekly committee meetings and liaising with the Manager of the centre to produce financial reports to present at the meetings. There would also be end of year reports required to be prepared for submitting for auditing. We are a friendly group and we even provide biscuits at our meetings!
