As SISG, we currently have 14 hearing hubs in Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Girvan, Alloway, Largs, Arran, West Kilbride, Saltcoats, Kilwinning, Cumnock, Kilmaurs, Galston and Kilmarnock. We also support 27 battery pick up points across North, South and East Ayrshire libraries. We also carry out visits to over 2,000 older people with hearing and/or sight loss throughout North, South and East Ayrshire each year. We wouldn't be able to carry out all this work without the help and support of our volunteers. If you would like to volunteer with us, we currently need the support of sensory loss volunteers. Even with as little as 2 hours a month to help us run our services from the different 'Hearing Hubs' which are usually based in the local libraries. Volunteers give support and information to people struggling with hearing and/or sight loss. If you have any queries, please get in contact and we will do our best to support you in your volunteering journey. Full training will be given by professionals.

We are Guide Dogs and we’re here to help people with sight loss live the life they choose. Our ambition is a future where every person with sight loss has the confidence and support they need to live their lives to the full. We don’t just provide life-changing guide dogs, we also provide advice, skills, emotional and practical support for people and families living with sight loss to help them live actively, independently and well. What does the role involve? Are you an organised person with strong administration skills who enjoys being part of a team? Fundraising secretaries do a fantastic job in keeping our fundraising groups running efficiently... From taking minutes, maintaining accurate records, booking collections and writing letters of thanks to our supporters, the tasks are engaging and most importantly you'll be making a real difference by helping Guide Dogs to provide life changing services to people living with sight loss to help them to live their lives independently!

To give talks and presentations about the work of Guide Dogs within a designated area, in line with the guidelines received at speaker training courses. What does the role involve? • Giving talks when requested to local organisations and groups within a 15 mile radius of your home • Keeping up to date with Guide Dogs news and key messages • Talks should be natural and enthusiastic, tailored to the audience and following guidelines on current key messages • Passing any donations given for talks to the Mobility Team as per guidelines • Attending cheque presentations when requested by the local Mobility Team • Informing your Mobility Team Support Worker of any requests to do talks using the speaker cards supplied • Encouraging local organisations and groups to volunteer or fundraise on behalf of Guide Dogs What will I get out of it? • Meet a variety of local groups and people • Enjoy giving information about Guide Dogs’ aims which enable blind and partially-sighted people to enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else

Do you have a passion for the power of technology? Our vision is to create a world in which digital services are equally accessible to all. As an AbilityNet Tech volunteer Coordinator you can help unleash the power of technology to ensure that older people and disabled people are not excluded from the digital world. All across the UK our 350+ volunteers support older and/or disabled people at home to offer one-to-one support with their technology, whether that’s a computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet. They trouble shoot technical issues, offer impartial advice on technology, set up new tech and install hardware and software, show people how to use their tech at home e.g. shop online, send and receive emails and video call with family and friends and make adaptations to support a disabled person’s specific technology needs. Each area has a volunteer Coordinator at the helm, managing the balance of client requests and volunteer resource to ensure each client’s IT needs are met in a timely and effective manner. What will I be doing? • Creating local awareness by publicising the service to, for example, disability charity organisations, libraries, community centres etc. this could include making phone calls, popping in to introduce yourself and the service, or presenting/attending events or meetings. • Using our online ticketing system to allocate and manage client requests within our Service Level Aims. • Communicating with clients to provide updates on volunteer availability and any issues or delays to their ticket resolution. • Reviewing monthly figures and trends and react appropriately with promotions and recruitment to fill gaps in service. • Contacting, interviewing and feeding back on potential volunteers. • Supporting and motivating your local volunteer team through team meetings and regular contact. • Attending ad-hoc company events or meetings. • Approving volunteers’ expenses. • Undertaking client IT support (if you also wish to be a Tech volunteer).
