As a Digital Drop In volunteer, you will offer basic support to people with devices such as laptops, iPads, tablets & smartphones. Support may include turning the device on, using device, creating accounts & passwords, focused support in using device to keep in touch with friends & family online, online shopping, paying bills, online job searches & job applications, CV writing. You don't need to be an IT expert as training will be provided but you'll be friendly, patient and keen to help people.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves guiding our community members through the maze of modern technology, ensuring they emerge confident and empowered users of their digital devices. As an IT Drop-In Facilitator, you'll be the frontline hero in our community tech space, offering one-on-one support, troubleshooting pesky PC problems, demystifying smartphones, and illuminating the internet's infinite possibilities. Whether it's setting up email accounts, understanding social media, or conquering cloud storage, your expertise will turn digital dilemmas into delightful discoveries. The volunteering role tasks: -Provide warm, friendly, and patient tech support to community members of all ages and abilities. -Lead informal, fun workshops on basic IT skills - think "Internet 101" or "How to Not Accidentally Call Your Boss on Facebook Messenger." -Create a welcoming environment where questions are encouraged, and learning is fun. -Stay up-to-date with the latest gadgets, gizmos, and updates in the tech world (a great excuse to play with all the new toys!). Volunteers should; Foster a supportive and encouraging environment; welcoming people to the group, facilitating social interactions through discussions and offering a listening ear. Offer digital support to those attending the group, as well as offering advice and support on issues such as CV writing, health and well-being, filling out online forms etc. Help with the set-up and clean-up of the group, arriving on time in order to do so. Alert staff of any concerns. Tuesdays from 10.30 to 12.30pm.

REAP is currently looking for 2 or 3 volunteers to help support upcoming gardening sessions at their Maryhill Therapeutic Garden in Elgin. Working alongside the REAP team, volunteers will help participants get involved in gardening activities, helping people to build their skills, confidence, and wellbeing. Therapeutic gardening is the use of garden space to improve and build resilience in mental health; to increase physical activity; develop social skills and encourage a healthier diet. REAP’s aim is to help participants improve their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing through gardening and socialising in a beautiful, peaceful environment. Sessions are returning soon on February 11th and will run on a weekly basis on Tuesday afternoons 2-5pm or Friday mornings 10-12:30pm. Volunteers can help people take part in various gardening activities such as sowing seeds, learning about composting and harvesting vegetables to take home. There’s also a chance to socialise during the tea breaks! Volunteers will also be supported in their development by being offered training relevant to the project.
