An exciting opportunity to join the Under the Trees team, working in the great and beautiful outdoors whilst gaining valuable experience working with young children and young adults. You will potentially be working in all weathers and in all seasons - we can provide waterproofs! Under the Trees runs fun and educational sessions for school children in the Falkirk and Stirling areas, as well as a programme of public events for all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Events run all year round. As a Volunteer Education Assistant, there will be opportunities for you to do a range of the following: - Assist with Educational Sessions for school groups, including term-time forest schools. - Assist with sessions for the general public, including a monthly nature club for ages 0-13. - Assist with holiday play sessions and family events. - Plan and lead in activities. - Maintain resources effectively. - Keep session areas safe and tidy. - Desk-based activities in planning, creating materials and administration.

The Kincorth Community Centre Hub has great volunteer opportunities to assist with a range of activities at the Hub. Volunteer roles include supporting our busy community cafe, which has rapidly taken off, we currently open 9.30 -2.30, but our aim is to run a breakfast and supper club, as well as have the cafe open for activities in the evening. We have a diverse community that has a lot to offer e.g.: art classes/exercise group/dance class/music lessons and we are always open to new ideas-we are more or less a blank canvass. Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Level 2 Hygiene Certificate will be offered to those who want to volunteer/cook in the café. Any other training would be reviewed and provided if proved relevant. A fantastic, enjoyable opportunity to volunteer and help make a real difference for people and the community. We are looking for volunteers to work with our community gardening group developing and maintaining our garden. Our community gardening group meets on Fridays. They are responsible for the development of our garden at Threipmuir Farm Steading outside Balerno. They indirectly support our work with young people by planting vegetables which our groups harvest and cook and by keeping the garden under control so that our work can take place in a safe and inspiring environment.

Marie Curie Companion is a professional service provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one companionship and support to people with a terminal illness and their families. To enable us to reach more people who would benefit from our support we need help to; Raise awareness and knowledge of the Companion service Ensure that people who are referred to the Companion service are appropriately assessed Increase our number of trained Companion volunteers and ensure they are well supported in their role. Demonstrate Marie Curie values; always compassionate, making things happen, leading in our field, people at our heart Support volunteers in training, offering 1:1 support and facilitating peer support groups Organise social events and engagement activities for volunteers Provide cover for Companion volunteers, offering companionship and emotional support, practical support and short breaks for carers With support from their Volunteer Coordinator a Lead Volunteer will play an important part in supporting the Companion service to reach more people within their own local community. Your role will mainly be based in your local community and may include some of, but is not restricted to, the following typical tasks: Assess terminally ill people and/or their carers either in their own home, nursing or residential care to identify their needs and determine if the Marie Curie Companion service would be appropriate for them. Provide cover for Companion volunteers, offering companionship and emotional support, practical support and short breaks for carers. You may be supporting your client’s family or carers before or during bereavement. This may involve offering emotional support, signposting to relevant local support services or finding out information as requested Driving clients to pre-arranged health or social care (eg to chemotherapy appointments or day therapy at the hospice) Follow all mandatory procedures that form part of the Companion service.
