Description

AILN provides information, advice and support to people living in North, South and East Ayrshire who have been assessed by their Local Authority and eligible for Self-directed Support. We provide services to people who opt for Option 1 of the 4 Options available and who would like to take greater control in organising and managing their own support.
AILN also provides a budget management and payroll service to assist people to manage the payment of Personal Assistants they may choose to recruit and/or the agencies they may choose to provide their support.
AILN has a staff team who provide the services day to day and they are managed by our Board of Directors who are all volunteers.
We are currently seeking to recruit a small number of new Directors to join our existing Board.
We are interested in hearing from people with the skills and experience we need to help us take our organisation through to the next stage in its exciting development.
To join our Board you must live within Ayrshire and either:
• Have experience of using social care services and or through self-directed support and organising and managing your own support. You could be using these services yourself or could be a parent or carer.
• Experience gained through working in, or managing health or social care services.

Organisation aims and objectives

To provide free informative advice on self directed support. To promote choice and control. To support people to manage their social care budget. Provide peer mentor support. Provide a payroll service for people using self directed support.

Training details: On an on-going basis there are a range of opportunities for Board members to develop their knowledge and skills through attendance at training courses and events.

Join the Board of Clutter Chat to help steer this young charity that supports those with chronic clutter and hoarding habits through self help groups. See our website for more details of our work www.clutterchat.co.uk We are a Glasgow-based and online meet-up giving support, encouragement and inspiration for dealing with life’s material clutter. Clutter affects everyone: it affects all ages, heritages, and walks of life. Clutter Chat is seeking Board member(s) to steer the course of this recently formed charity to support those with chronic clutter and hoarding habits through self-help groups. The groups started in 2014, and we registered as a charity in 2020. Currently, we run 2 groups, one on Zoom and one in person, in partnership with a Housing Association. New Board members with experience in partnership working, mental health, social work, and fire and rescue services, would be particularly welcome, as well as those with bookkeeping skills, who would be willing to take over the role of treasurer, and those able and willing to minute our meetings. We would like to welcome people from all walks of life as the issue with clutter/hoarding can affect a wide variety of people, including neurodivergent groups. Board Members

Volunteer board members or trustees as we are sometimes called play a part in ensuring that the charity meets its stated objectives and that it is a financially sustainable. They are responsible for the charity's governance and strategy, and for making sure that the charity is administered effectively. They must account for its activities and outcomes. To ensure that our board has capacity going forward we are looking to recruit new members to our board.

We are looking to replace losing a board member due to ill health, but would ideally like to replace them with two people. From a skills audit the board would like to attract someone who has a business background who can bring support and advice in relation to social enterprise, to give advice and assistance on how we can generate our own income and be less reliant on grants, although we are at present financially secure. We would also be interested in bringing on board someone with a media background for our publicity and marketing both to support and advise on the planned re-branding of the organisation to be more inclusive, but anyone with an interest in young people and developing services in the area would be welcome. We are also in the final stages of finalising our strategic plan and this will support the direction of the organisation over the next 3 years, so this is quite an exciting time to be part of Beyond Earlston . The meetings are held in Earlston, but we travel around so that board members can see the groups in each location as well as meet with the volunteers and staff. We have our Volunteer Friendly award and offer a comprehensive induction to the organisation to ensure that we are inclusive. We are happy to meet with anyone who is interested in finding out more and ask questions from the other board members before any commitment is made.
