Description

The Point Community Cafe is seeking volunteers to help out with the elderly lunch club on a Wednesday. This role is for 2.5 hours only per week. You will be asked to help in the kitchen preparing meals, meeting and greeting our clients, serving hot food and general housekeeping duties. Full training will be given as well as a chance to earn a level 2 food hygiene certificate. You will be joining a much larger team of volunteers within the KLSB Community Group, however, you will be working within a small group.

In all of our volunteering roles you will be supplied a uniform, meet new friends and become part of a larger team of volunteers who assist our community. We have regular team meetings where we encourage our volunteers to share their thought and ideas. All training will be given and support will always be available.

Organisation aims and objectives

The KLSB Community Group was formed in 2018 after it was identified that there was a need for a local group in the area to help tackle issues including food insecurities, social welfare, support and general community wellbeing. We started as a small litter picking group where we gained support from local residents, groups and businesses. Since those early days we have now become a registered Scottish charity who operate a food pantry, a support hub and we are also in the process of bringing a large community garden to the area. We continue to work in the community by bringing colour to our public gardens as well as our micro gardens which can be found throughout our area.
