As a Volunteer Collection box Co-ordinator you will support the Regional Development Manager in your region to raise awareness and funds for the charity by placing and managing collection boxes within businesses in your local community. Specific tasks may include: • Placing charity collection boxes in shops, pubs, chemists, doctor’s surgeries etc in your area. • Making follow up visits to businesses where boxes have been placed to empty contents and reseal boxes for further use. • Counting and receipting contents of each box emptied. • Maintaining accurate records of venues holding boxes and how much each collection box placed raises – you will be provided with a spreadsheet to facilitate this. • Ensuring boxes are clean and in good condition and replacing where needed. • Banking income and providing detailed report of income to Regional Development Manager within agreed timescales. What you’ll bring to the role: • Have a welcoming, friendly manner. • Good organisation skills and ability to maintain records. • Initiative in order to recognise opportunities to place boxes. • Have good written English and basic computer skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office. • Can volunteer flexible hours. • The ability to work well with staff and other volunteers as part of a team but also able to work on your own initiative.

Are you passionate Gardening or have horticultural knowledge? In this role of Community Gardens Ambassador, you'll play a key part in helping to find gardens to open in your local area. You will be a key ambassador for the charity and a link to the gardens. Key Responsibilities: Community Building: • Inspire individuals to open their gardens to the public, creating a unique opportunity for community engagement. • create connections among community gardens, encouraging the exchange of ideas and collaboration. Event planning and coordination: • help to organise and coordinate Community Garden events that showcase the gardens in your area. • Provide support for garden hosts (you will be provided with resources and support for this), ensuring their success in attracting visitors and generating income. Promotion and marketing: • Use your local knowledge to promote Open Garden opportunities and events, and explain why this is important for Muscular Dystrophy UK • Support the open gardens in their fundraising endeavours.

We are looking to build Fundraising Groups across the UK, these groups will consist of 3-8 people who will help us extend our reach by fundraising, attending talks and presentations, creating local networks, building awareness of the charity and understanding how we can help people living with a muscle wasting condition all within their community. The role of the FG Co-ordinator is to work with the Regional Development team to help us get this project off the ground, you will often have catch ups with the team on a one-to-one basis and support with admin tasks to help us gather and collate information needed to ask people to join a group. Along with other staff and volunteers you'll be a core part of the local MDUK community, meeting new people and making a difference to those living with a muscle wasting condition.

What you’ll get out of the role: • Meeting new people in your community and working as part of our skilled and friendly fundraising team • A flexible volunteering opportunity that you can fit around your lifestyle • Relevant training by MDUK What you’ll be doing: As an Ambassador you will be a representative for Muscular Dystrophy UK. • You will use your influence and contacts with local small businesses and individuals in your area to help build Muscular Dystrophy UK networks and fundraising partnerships. • You will be confident in speaking about the cause and the work of the charity; developing relationships with key supporters and individuals in the process. • Raising awareness of who we are and what we do is very important. So we are looking for a proactive volunteer who will seek out speaking opportunities and make asks on behalf of the charity to attend events where further awareness can be raised. Specific tasks may include: • Introduce your Regional Development Manager to decision makers in local companies and community organisations. • Promoting small business involvement in our Go Bright day and Bake a Difference and/or any other suitable initiatives and events. • Using your experience to help Muscular Dystrophy UK maximise returns from our small business partnerships and local media partnerships. • Making introductions to key community figures, groups and networks (e.g. MPs, mayors, WI, golf clubs, rotaries etc). • Helping us to recruit skilled volunteers from your networks. • Providing feedback to help us improve and develop the way we work. • Attending events and meetings on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy UK. The events and activities the charity is invited to vary from large conferences or fundraising balls through to other fundraising activities such as supporter coffee mornings, quiz nights and cheque presentation opportunities. • Speaking about muscular dystrophy and the work of the charity in fighting muscle disease. • Recognising opportunities to exchange contact details and develop relationships.
