Description

At Clyde Cycle Park we are looking for more people to get involved with the park. Duties are varied and will involve helping to get set up for sessions, checking bikes over, assisting coaches, and general helping out at the centre.

No cycling experience is necessary, and you will be given training and help to carry out the duties. This role will involve working with children, families, people from different backgrounds and people with disabilities.

We also need help to spread the word and promote Clyde Cycle Park, and there may be opportunity to attend networking events.

Hours and days will vary, we are a new organisation and are getting regular activities set up.

You can get involved for a short term or longer term, and if you are unsure if this is the right opportunity, please feel free to contact us for an informal chat.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Clyde Cycle Park (CCP) is an ambitious project that is creating a high-quality combination of cycle circuits (for skills training, road-race, cyclo-cross, BMX, cycle speedway) on the River Clyde in Cambuslang to promote community, commuter and competition cycling. CCP is planning on offering cycling classes and guided bike tours to the community. Please visit CCP's website and Facebook page for up-to-date information.

Training details: Induction training to Clyde Cycle Park then ongoing training will be given as required. ie if a volunteer wants to do ride leader training, or coaching training we can help to facilitate this.

General Support Volunteer

To provide general support in the running of the charity We have 4 volunteering roles available: Training is given for all roles Skippering the boats for which training/external examination is given and required Crewing the boats: supporting the skipper, literally “learning the ropes”, driving the boat. Stewarding; greeting the passengers, offering/making teas and coffees, selling souvenirs, tidying the boat after each cruise Office admin: booking the sailings, confirming them, Boat maintenance – this is done during the non sailing periods from October to April

Friends of Rotary (general volunteer)

Rotary is a global network,1.4 million strong, who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change-in our communities, across the world and in ourselves. Ayr Rotary Club is one of 46,000 clubs worldwide. We are very active in the local community supporting many charities. Examples of our current projects include a cycling event, a Primary Schools careers fair, fundraising for Poppy Scotland, a beach clean, Food bank support, youth pubiic speaking competitions, and a charity golf tournament. Members aim to enjoy “fun and friendship while helping others” It’s a great way to meet like-minded people and make long-lasting friendships. Men and women of all ages are welcome, and you choose the type of activities you would like to be involved with. There are lots of different ways to become involved with Ayr Rotary, and you don’t have to become a member. With many projects ongoing, we always require help from non-members. We call our regular helpers and volunteers “Friends of Rotary” If you have skills, experience or talents to offer, and would like to give something back to the community, we would love to hear from you!

Contribute to the maintenance of a professional and welcoming environment of Headway Borders Group and continue in providing the vital support needed for those with brain injury, their families and carers. Tasks: To arrange refreshments for the group. Setting up and clearing away for the group. Arrange activities for the group and source materials. To distribute literature from Headway UK to members including competitions and information. Liaise with other volunteers to produce quarterly newsletter.
