Coffee and Chat Volunteer

Description

As SISG, we currently have 14 hearing hubs in Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Girvan, Alloway, Largs, Arran, West Kilbride, Saltcoats, Kilwinning, Cumnock, Kilmaurs, Galston and Kilmarnock. We also support 27 battery pick up points across North, South and East Ayrshire libraries. We also carry out visits to over 2,000 older people with hearing and/or sight loss throughout North, South and East Ayrshire each year. We wouldn't be able to carry out all this work without the help and support of our volunteers.

If you would like to volunteer with us, we currently need peer support group volunteers to offer support and information to people struggling with hearing and/or sight loss in informal settings. Our volunteers meet in cafes and restaurants in Irvine, Troon and/or Ayr to share a cup of coffee and a scone whilst supporting and share learning experiences.

Even as little as 2 hours a month make a difference to our service users and help us run our support services. If you have any queries, please get in contact and we will do our best to support you with your volunteering journey.

Full training will be given by professionals.

We have opened our cosy space at the Pioneer Cafe, at the Community Church Hall for anyone who is keen to get out of the house for a few hours to meet other people, relax and have a chat. Volunteers can help socialise, chat and support staff serve teas/coffee, warm soup and snacks at the cafe. Volunteers are not expected to undertake care sector roles, but support individuals by chatting, socialising, helping out in the kitchen, set up, tidy the cafe and clear tables, etc. Could you offer a few hours per week?

Tea/coffee and chat- volunteer with the Elderly

The Laurandy Day Care Centre in Wick are looking to recruit volunteers to help the elderly users of the centre. Volunteers can help socialise, chat and support staff serve Teas/coffee and lunch in the centre. This is an opportunity to get experience in the care sector and interact in a friendly social capacity. Volunteers are Not expected to undertake care sector roles, but support individuals by chatting, reading helping with bingo etc. The Day centre is open weekdays, could you offer an hour or two per week?

Sensory Loss Volunteer

Volunteer Notetaker

S.I.S.G Charity based in Ayr are looking for a volunteer who would be able to take brief notes at monthly board meetings. We are looking for someone who is able to take these notes and type them up after the board meeting. The time commitment would be 2-3hrs each month and the meetings take place at our offices in Beresford Court in Ayr.
