Week by week, our volunteers inspire and provide #SkillsForLife for young people aged 4-25. We support Scouting in the Borders, Braid, Craigalmond, East Lothian, Edinburgh North East, Midlothian and Pentland areas Our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re supported by our everyday heroes - adult volunteers who shape young people’s lives for the better and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too. You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races, and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers, and skill sharers. We’re talking about minibus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family. Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local town hall, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread a group of very hungry eleven-year olds - no two Scout meetings are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great. We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life. As long as you're over 18, you can help out as an adult volunteer in Scouting. Don’t fancy working directly with young people? We also have roles in governance, administration, planning, social media and much more! Get in touch with your local group and offer your skills/time. Reporter responsibilities include: - collecting and verifying newsworthy information - assembling information into a stable story - writing and delivering news stories with the readers' perspective in mind - accompany the youth and senior teams during the tournament (matches, activities and events) and report

Can you support Carrick Rugby? Do you enjoy hosting parties or small events? Are you a creative person and can multitask to create positive experiences for guests? You might like to volunteer with us as event organisers. You could be doing the following duties: - Researching target audiences to find significant occasions. - Creating and maintaining a budget for the client. - Searching for, booking and organizing adequate locations to host events. - Designing event layouts and agendas, including creating pamphlets or event guides. - Marketing events through advertisements and working with PR professionals. - Training staff or volunteers - Overseeing operations during events and ensuring proper cleanup after it ends - Communicating with vendors to provide suitable resources for the event, including sound and electric equipment, security or stages.

Bridge of Don Sea Cadets, based as Gordon Barracks, is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Community Liaison Co-ordinators to join its Unit Management Team (UMT). Bridge of Don is a long-established Sea Cadet Unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people. The Charity is currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers that can support with recruitment of cadets and adults to the Unit and with building strong links in the community. There are free training courses available for you to develop new skills, boost your CV and support you in this role.
