SBSS is a confidential bereavement service for people who need structure care and support following the death of someone. We are looking to recruit new committee members. We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 5.30pm. We're a really friendly bunch an most meetings are lightsome and quick. Why not come along for a meeting to see what you think before committing yourself1?! There is also an option to join the meetings virtually. SBSS is a charity, and is led by the committee - so you get to make a real difference to shape the delivery and direction of the service in Shetland. It's a great way of giving something back to Shetland and the community - without a committee, we can't run and there would be no SBSS.

Duchess Wood is a Local Nature Reserve in the west of Helensburgh, made up of 23 hectares of mature woodland with many paths, streams and ponds. We estimate that locals and visitors make 90,000 visits to the wood each year, enjoying the physical and mental benefits of walking in these tranquil woods. The Friends of Duchess Wood (FoDW) is a Scottish registered charity (SC039527) which works to safeguard the wood and its benefits to the community, both in terms of its biodiversity and the opportunities it provides for quiet recreation and education. We have just over 200 members whose subscriptions and donations go towards maintaining the wood and its infrastructure. Our friendly committee (currently eight Trustees) meets just four times per year (usually on a Tuesday evening in central Helensburgh), plus we have an AGM in the autumn. We are looking for a Treasurer to join us to make a real contribution to keeping Duchess Wood a highly valued asset for the town, its community and visitors. The Treasurer is one of the Officers of the charity (the other two being the Chair and Secretary).  As a Trustee, as well as Treasurer, you are able to contribute at committee meetings and help to formulate future plans, activities and events for the Friends of Duchess Wood. The accounts are quite straightforward and the tasks can be summarised as follows: 1 Prepare a summary of receipts and payments, plus opening and closing bank balances for quarterly Committee meetings. 2 Prepare annual accounts for submission to OSCR, the charity regulator, for the financial year which runs from July to June.  3 Arrange for the annual accounts to be signed-off by our Examiner.  4 Give a brief summary of the annual accounts at the AGM (usually held in late October/early November). 5 Process any expense claims submitted by committee members.  6 Pay monthly accounts from suppliers (2 accounts only - M&T and Helensburgh Minuteman). 7 Produce the annual Gift Aid return for HMRC. Cohousing Scotland is a charity supporting innovative housing solutions. We act as a support forum for local Cohousing groups, fostering best practice, promoting opportunities and providing guidance to stakeholders. We are looking for a trustee with experience of governance to help the charity achieve its full potential.

IACD is the global network for professional community development practitioners, who we support to build the capacity of communities in more than 70 countries to realise greater equality, environmental protection and political democracy. There is an opportunity to take on an important role within IACD as Treasurer. We are looking for someone with a background/experience in accounting, managing budgets and finances who would be interested in joining the board of an international organisation working in the community development field. The IACD has a relatively small turnover (around £30K in 2022-23) and our accountant carries out day-to-day bookkeeping. You would be provided with induction on the organisation’s activities, the responsibilities of trustees, the organisation’s financial processes and the role of the Treasurer. You would work closely with the organisation’s Chair, other office bearers and our part-time administrator. We work co-operatively, supporting each other in an ethos of shared commitment and would aim to make this a highly rewarding experience.
