Description

Altens and Cove Community Association Centre is a local independent charity, run by volunteer Trustees and a small staff team from Altens Community Centre.

Serving Altens and Cove, the centre offers a wide range of community activities, along with private hires of our meeting rooms, sports hall and community rooms, and a café. Our highly recommended Fishies Playgroup operates within Altens Community Centre on weekday mornings during term time.

As we emerge from pandemic restrictions, we are looking for new trustees to join our friendly group of staff and trustees. In particular, we are seeking a treasurer to manage the association’s accounts in conjunction with the centre manager and other members of the board of trustees.

The Centre provides a vibrant atmosphere and essential support for the community of Cove and Altens, and we would be pleased to welcome additional volunteers to our team.

Restrictions

Experience required: Although accountancy experience would be advantageous, it is not essential and full support will be given.
Travel details: The Altens and Cove Community Association runs from the Altens Community Centre, Strathburn Street, Cove Bay, Aberdeen AB12 3SE.

Volunteer Treasurer as part of the Management Committee

Kingswells Community Centre and Webster Park provide welcoming facilities for use by all members of the community and are continuing to develop and grow for the needs of our future generations. We currently require a volunteer to be a Treasurer on our Management Committee and would welcome anyone with finance experience to join us in helping develop our centres further and provide quality experiences for the community. It would involve attending regular 6 weekly committee meetings and liaising with the Manager of the centre to produce financial reports to present at the meetings. There would also be end of year reports required to be prepared for submitting for auditing. We are a friendly group and we even provide biscuits at our meetings! Trustee and Treasurer Opportunities

*What does a Zero Tolerance trustee do? Trustees look after Zero Tolerance’s assets and make sure the charity fulfils its main aim, which is the prevention of violence against women in all its forms. Our Trustees commit to volunteering at least 4 hours a month. This time includes attending quarterly online Board meetings, sub-committee meetings, and up to two in-person training and development days annually. *The role of the Treasurer The Treasurer is the Chair of the finance sub-committee. Working closely with the Co-Directors and Operations Manager, they oversee the preparation of the management accounts for distribution to the Board before each Board meeting. The Treasurer guides and advises the Board of Trustees on all matters relating to the financial administration of the charity, the approval of budgets, independently audited annual accounts, and financial statements. With the other trustees, the Treasurer develops strategic plans that ensure that the charity is on a stable financial footing. *What do we offer? -The chance to use your experience to shape our work to end violence against women and girls in Scotland. -Induction and training on how to be a charity trustee plus a board ‘buddy’. -As far as possible we will offer practical support to carry out the role, depending on individual needs, for example equipment, travel expenses, or help to cover caring responsibilities. -Training on our policy areas. -Equality and diversity training.
