A wide range of opportunities are available and include: Fosterers – a spare room to care for a cat until a new home is found. All equipment and food etc provided. Home checkers – visiting prospective new cat owners. Fostering support and co ordination – helping fosterers and organising cat food distribution, equipment etc Equipment inventory – keeping an up to date list of all equipment and its location. Helpline – taking phone calls from the public. Food store coordinator – making sure fosterers have sufficient food of an appropriate type and caring for supplies. Kitten socialising – assisting fosterers to socialise young kittens to meeting different people and get used to them. TNR Trap, Neuter and Return – trapping feral cats, taking them to the vets to be neutered and then releasing them back to site. Involves learning about the colony and getting them used to being fed in a trap; arranging neutering with the vets; keeping the cats safe until fully recovered and able to rejoin the colony; arranging for kittens young enough to be socialised to be fostered. Transport – cats to vets etc; goods and equipment to where needed. Collecting and sorting donated goods. Storing donated goods, equipment and cat food. Fundraiser – to organise fundraising events. On line auctions – organise online auctions of donated goods. Stall helpers – assisting on stalls. Crafts – making crafts to sell. Grant applications – find and apply for appropriate grants and funding. Sunday tea staff – assisting at Sunday teas. Trustee – joining the trustees. Marketing. DIY – DIY skills to help maintain pens and equipment

BECYCLE Workshop SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation – charity number: SC053291) is a small, wholly volunteer operated and donations based community bike workshop that provides a free place to access practical help, education, learning and advice for maintaining and repairing bikes. The workshop also provides free bikes to children (u18) and loans out bikes to anyone, with a fully returnable deposit system. It is currently open twice a week (8 hours), every week of the year, no matter the weather. Every person that volunteers at the workshop becomes a bike mechanic first and foremost - no matter how much experience you have just now with bikes or tools. You’ll learn quickly and surprise yourself with the amount you can take onboard - and you’ll be well supported by volunteers with decades of experience at fixing bikes and helping people. Don’t worry though about being the odd one out, none of us get paid and never will. In addition further roles we are looking for specialists in are; - Accountant - Fundraising - Graphic Design - Social Media Manager - Videographer On top of the two in-person sessions (Monday and Wednesday 4-8pm), most volunteers offer their time and expertise in a variety of areas that keep the workshop ticking over, or assist specific functions that align with their background and experience such as driving, photography or social media. We are formed of a group of dozens of volunteers from various backgrounds, ages, life experiences and nationalities. Our greatest strength is the trust we have in each other and encouraging the individual talents of each volunteer, that help make the workshop what it is today. Volunteers we need you, with you inspiration and motivation to serve as a board member on the Management Board of HALLA (Harlaw Area Lifelong Learning Association). We are a Board of people who run daytime and evening classes at Kaimhill Learning Centre. We have a FB page ( @HALLACommunity) where you can see some of our activities and tutored classes. We meet once a month to discuss new opportunities and management issues, to find new ways of how-to bring people of all ages in the local community into the centre. We have several weekly, social, informal learning groups where Board members can get to know each other and form a friendly working relationship. A volunteer should be passionate, enthusiastic and have a keen interest in community matters. A volunteer does not necessarily require specific skills since we all support each other to develop new skills but if you have specific ones, it would be good to introduce them to the rest of the Board so we can use them to benefit the local community. The Board would appreciate people with knowledge of IT and office procedures but enthusiasm and interest in the community are equally important. About the Charity Borders Pet Rescue is a small registered Scottish charity offering animal rescue, re-homing and the promotion of responsible pet ownership through education and training across the Scottish Borders and adjoining areas. Established in 1988, the Charity’s Rescue Centre is at Craigsford in Earlston. Each year more than 200 dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and exotics are re-homed. The charity relies entirely on fundraising, donations and significant funds generated by four Borders Pet Rescue Charity Shops located in Galashiels, Kelso, Duns and Hawick. Like all animal charities, BPR relies on the generosity of the animal loving public to support the work and could not survive without the dedication of the many friends and volunteers. About the Vacancies Trustees We are seeking to recruit a number of individuals with experience across any of the following skills areas: Marketing/social media Retail management IT Property/asset management Animal welfare HR Applications from individuals with other relevant experience would also be welcome. Principal duties include: To attend bi-monthly (Jan/Mar/May/Jul/Sep/Nov) Board meetings held on a Monday evening via virtual and face-to-face meetings. Board members are expected to participate in the charities activities and are asked to attend and support the organisation’s volunteer and fundraising events. Time commitment: Approximately 2 days per month, including bi-monthly Trustee meetings (2-3 hours per meeting) It is essential that Board members share a passion and commitment for animal welfare.
