Description

Can you provide support to a local ESOL class programme for those who do not speak English as a first language? ESOL Support Volunteers help established tutors with the running of classes by providing support for learners during classes.
Typical duties will involve:

  • Developing knowledge and understanding of clients specific ESOL needs
  • Keeping accurate and up-to-date records
  • Attending appropriate training arranged by Fife Council
  • Maintaining regular communication with the ESOL Coordinator

Restrictions

Experience required: Good language awareness is required for this role in addition to patience and good communication skills.

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Public transport and mileage rates will be reimbursed on a monthly basis.
Training details: Volunteers will be given an opportunity to meet with the tutor that they will support. They will also have a chance to meet learners and observe a class before starting. The tutor will prepare the materials for the volunteer, who will then be tasked with supporting one or more learners. On-going training and support will be provided.
