Help your community and gain valuable customer service skills and experience. Make new friends and have fun.

We are looking for a volunteers to help out on Thursdays from 11am to 3pm in our wonderful community cafe.

You will:
• Learn how to use the till and our professional coffee machine
• Serve the table and keep to cafe clean and tidy
• Full training will be provided

All help makes a real difference and is always greatly appreciated.

Organisation aims and objectives

Inchgarth is the biggest community centre in Aberdeen providing a great programme of activities for the community with the fantastic help of volunteers. Inchgarth has over 170 sessions of activity per week serving every age group and section of the community. Inchgarth is a centre of excellence which prides itself not only on the huge diverse programme and range of services but on the fact that our centre helps those in our community and city who truly need our help, facilities and opportunities. Inchgarth community centre exists to provide social, recreational, leisure, educational and community facilities/ opportunities for all age groups. We are managed by a voluntary committee and at the core of our service is to develop volunteering opportunities that enrich the lives of the volunteer and those attending the activities. Inchgarth Community Centre is also honoured to be a recipient of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of Inchgarths dedication to the community and volunteering. Community Cafe Volunteers

Devana Parish Church (formerly Ferryhill Parish Church) operates a great community café in the heart of Ferryhill, which creates a welcoming environment for those who attend for a morning cuppa and also for those who volunteer their services. We are requiring helpers, who can assist in the coffee shop, as it is a very popular meeting place. Helpers are required to volunteer with the team in the general running of the coffee shop. e.g. setting tables, serving coffees, clearing tables and generally tidying up. Kincorth Community Centre Hub Volunteers

The Kincorth Community Centre Hub has great volunteer opportunities to assist with a range of activities at the Hub. Volunteer roles include supporting our busy community cafe, which has rapidly taken off, we currently open 9.30 -2.30, but our aim is to run a breakfast and supper club, as well as have the cafe open for activities in the evening. We have a diverse community that has a lot to offer e.g.: art classes/exercise group/dance class/music lessons and we are always open to new ideas-we are more or less a blank canvass. Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Level 2 Hygiene Certificate will be offered to those who want to volunteer/cook in the café. Any other training would be reviewed and provided if proved relevant. A fantastic, enjoyable opportunity to volunteer and help make a real difference for people and the community. Food Pantry Customer Assistant

Your role as the Food Pantry Customer Assistant is to help customers who come into the Food Pantry, offering information and assistance as they are enquiring, browsing or purchasing food. Our Food Pantry is the first one in South Ayrshire based in Ayr Town Centre. A Pantry is a membership scheme aimed at helping people make their money go further by reducing their food shopping bills and providing advice and support. Local Pantries mean people can bring down their food shopping bills, and access good food, whilst freeing up more money for other essentials and enabling tight budgets to stretch a little further. A Pantry offers dignity, choice, community and food quality. Your role will be to assist new and current members learn about the Pantry and do their shopping. We will give you full training on how it works, equipment used, systems to follow etc. You will always be volunteering as part of a team of volunteers with a staff team leader present. As there will be a café on the premises, there will be an opportunity to benefit from Barista training. DUTIES: The role of the Food Pantry Customer Assistant will be as follows: • Assist customers to the Pantry, engaging in conversation • Offer information on how the Pantry works • Offer signposting to other services where necessary • Operate till with cash / card handling • Restock and rotate shelves and fridges as required • Clean and sanitise according to guidance • To commit to a minimum of 3.5hrs per week

Coffee and Chat Volunteer

We have opened our cosy space at the Pioneer Cafe, at the Community Church Hall for anyone who is keen to get out of the house for a few hours to meet other people, relax and have a chat. Volunteers can help socialise, chat and support staff serve teas/coffee, warm soup and snacks at the cafe. Volunteers are not expected to undertake care sector roles, but support individuals by chatting, socialising, helping out in the kitchen, set up, tidy the cafe and clear tables, etc. Could you offer a few hours per week?
