Brownies is aimed at girls aged 7-10 for nonstop fun, learning and adventure. We are looking for a person/people to come and help with the 20th B Brownies Unit in Broughty Ferry. As a Unit Helper, you will be hands on with the running of a unit meeting such as setting up activities, supervising girls when undertaking activities, and helping them when they have questions or need assistance completing an activity. In the past term alone, we’ve completed a First Aid course, sowed seeds, completed a Broughty Ferry walk, visited the cinema, completed many crafts, and played countless games. You’ll discover the joy of being a unit helper – helping girls do things for the first time, encouraging teamwork, and building their confidence and self-esteem. The unit is very friendly and full of enthusiasm. You’re guaranteed to leave every unit meeting with a smile on your face!

Oshay’s Centre is the home of Oshay's Brain Domains CIC which focuses on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) education and advocacy. It provides education to professionals, schools, parents, and children about what FASD is and how it affects individuals’ brains and those around them. Oshay’s also offers resources and a sense of community to empower and support families and professionals working with individuals with brain-based disabilities. Additionally, our work extends to supporting various neurodiverse conditions like ADHD, Trauma, Autism, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia, falling under the umbrella of “Neurodiversity.” Additionally, we have recently launched a much needed Child Contact, Mediation and Counselling Service within our Centre. Oshay's are currently looking to recruit Child Contact Centre volunteers to facilitate supported or supervised child contact. The central concept of a child contact centre is to offer a safe, friendly, neutral, child-centred environment for children to meet their non-resident parent or family member. They are designed to be a stepping stone to a more permanent arrangement for future contact. Parents/family members can spend time with their children in a supported or supervised context. They can also use the centres to collect and return the children to the other parent at the start and end of visits. Adults do not have to see or speak to each other at contact centres. My Support Day is a charity based in South Lanarkshire that supports families affected by substance use. The Homework Club is a new project with the purpose of supporting such children and young children achieve more and grow in confidence with one-on-one and small group learning support. The Homework Club session will be followed by a whole family activity. The volunteer role is to support the children and young people with their learning, help to set up and put away before and after the club, and utilise your own skills and interests to help plan and run the activities. The atmosphere is very relaxed and informal, but reliability and enthusiasm are key to this role. The club will run every Thursday from 4-6:30pm in the Beacons in Blantyre so we are looking for people who can commit to 1.5-2.5 hours every week or fortnight. There will be lots of opportunities to work with partner organisations and access relevant training. This would be especially suited to someone with an interest in teaching, youth work, community/social work or a career in the third sector. A full induction will be provided when you start your role, and ongoing support including one-on-one meetings will be available to you. Early Intervention is a neurodivergent safe space for neuro divergent children and their families. A non-judgmental environment where you can be your true authentic self. Managed by volunteers we offer specialist support - Speech and Language therapy, Music Therapy, Pet therapy, and opportunities for children up to 9 years old to socialise with their neurokin whilst empowering them to embrace their identity, we also offer opportunities for semi structured play, arts and crafts and sensory messy play. Looking for friendly volunteers to help us support families at sessions, no experience necessary but would especially love to hear from those with lived experience - neurodivergent adults and or people with a close connection to neurodiversity or ASN for example an autistic family member. Although no experience is necessary, we would love to hear from any practicing/retired or student Speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, play therapists, teachers, or those with experience in social care and early years childcare. Early Intervention is a volunteer-led organisation which has been providing services to neurodivergent children and their families since February 2022. This is an exciting time to get involved with us as we are seeking to develop the services we offer and to look at making the transition to becoming a Scottish Charity.
