CAPS provides Individual Advocacy in East Lothian and Midlothian and runs several experience-led Collective Advocacy projects across Lothian. This is a voluntary, unpaid position but management committee members can claim travel expenses for attending meetings. IT equipment is available for use by the management committee members if required. We also offer management committee members a training programme (both in-person and e-learning) and encourage them to develop their knowledge and leadership skills by attending various events and joining group sub-committees. Your commitment You will need to commit to attending 10 management committee meetings per year. These meetings are usually held in the early evening and can be attended in person or remotely. In addition, you will be expected to take part in annual skills development and training provided by the Association to support you in your role as a management committee member. An exciting opportunity to make a difference in your local community. Thornhill Community Centre is a well established hub within Falkirk Town Centre. It provides a vital service to local community groups, families and other services looking for a space to meet, celebrate, enjoy, collaborate and build a better future for the people of Falkirk. This is an ideal time to join our Management Committee and be part of a group of passionate individuals who help to manage the current activities at the Community Centre and are also seeking to develop and improve the facilities for wider community access. The Management Committee is made up of volunteers who meet bi-monthly and are responsible for the management of regular bookings for community groups, charities and short term lets or family events, children's parties and other community events. As a member of the Management Committee you will have an opportunity to provide input to decisions about the ongoing management and future development of the Community Centre. The Management Committee is run in accordance with a formal constitution and seeks to be inclusive of the opinions and views of members. The role will also involve some practical support from time to time, including helping to promote the use of the Community Centre on social media or helping to and manage specific bookings or reviewing accounts, as required. We are seeking a wide range of additional skills to compliment the existing members including individuals who have experience of Community Centres, Treasury or Facilities or Building Management or other charity experience, or someone who lives locally and is keen to make a difference.

*What does a Zero Tolerance trustee do? Trustees look after Zero Tolerance’s assets and make sure the charity fulfils its main aim, which is the prevention of violence against women in all its forms. Our Trustees commit to volunteering at least 4 hours a month. This time includes attending quarterly online Board meetings, sub-committee meetings, and up to two in-person training and development days annually. *The role of the Treasurer The Treasurer is the Chair of the finance sub-committee. Working closely with the Co-Directors and Operations Manager, they oversee the preparation of the management accounts for distribution to the Board before each Board meeting. The Treasurer guides and advises the Board of Trustees on all matters relating to the financial administration of the charity, the approval of budgets, independently audited annual accounts, and financial statements.
