Social Media Intern

Description

This voluntary post is for a minimum of three months, and we ask that interns are able to commit to at least six hours per week, some of which can be done remotely.

In conjunction with the Communications Officer tasks may include some or all of the following:

o Writing social media posts and captions and updating the social media pages
o Responding to customer feedback and maintaining communications online
o Creating social media campaigns and calendars to increase engagement and target new audiences
o Creating graphic and visual content for dissemination on social media pages
o Carrying out research for team projects
o Sharing related content from partner organisations with their social media audience
o Analysing social media numbers regularly
o Preparing periodic reports for review.

An international development agency with a Christian basis, working with poor communities in the developing world through programmes such as child sponsorship, skills training and small business start up. Also working within Dundee through community outreach programmes.

Experience required: .o Excellent written and verbal communication skills o Knowledge of community development and global issues o Computer literate (MS Office and some Adobe programmes) o Excellent knowledge of social media platforms. o Team player and self-motivated, creative independent thinker o Understanding and sensitivity to cross cultural issues o Keen interest in international affairs o Time management skills, the ability to meet deadlines and targets are required.

• We are looking for volunteers, who have a warm, friendly, and welcoming manner, who have good organisational and communication skills and lots of patience, to join our team. • We are establishing a food pantry that will respond to local need to address poverty. • Families/individuals who use the pantry will become members of the Pantry and in exchange for a small fee, they will be able to choose goods to take away. • It is essential that all times, that we provide a welcoming atmosphere where customers feel safe to use the service that we provide. • Your role will also include stock management, identifying gaps in stock and contributing ideas to make this service work for the community that it serves.

Support Session Volunteer

Could you support unpaid carers or people with disabilities to access benefits? Could you help someone find local services? Could you help someone understand the information they have been given about their care and support? Could you support or lead a group of people on a topic of interest? You could help improve the quality of someone’s life. This role is ideal for social work students, an interest in the care sector or retired professionals. Support Session Volunteers help our clients with general advocacy, supporting people with a variety of challenges. This helps us to reduce waitlists and support more individuals by: • Helping clients understand about advocacy • Supporting clients to self-advocate with our tool kits • Signposting clients to other services where required • Supporting the service to deliver “collective” advocacy sessions • Light Touch Advocacy • Supporting advocates with casework • Promotion of services and the organisation • Logging activity onto our systems Volunteer, Ben’s priorities changed after a serious illness. “I wanted to give something back.
