Home-Start offers one to one personalised support for parents with children under five. Home-Start places trained Volunteers alongside parents and support is provided for as long as the family need it. www.home-start-dunfermline.org.uk
Trustees make up the governing body of Home-Start Dunfermline and have a responsibility to ensure that the charity’s activities are carried out in accordance with the Trustee and Investment (Scotland) Act 2005.
Trustees ensure that the organisation complies with requirements under both Charity and Company Laws, in addition to other laws such as Employment, Health & Safety etc. Board meetings are held bi-monthly and the Trustees take an active part in the discussions and decision-making.

The North East Scotland Climate Action Network (NESCAN) Hub is a regional community climate action support hub, fully funded by the Scottish Government, that covers Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
Our vision is to contribute to the creation of a flourishing, connected and sustainable North East Scotland through the provision of dedicated training, help and support for community led climate action and the linkage of communities into the decision making process.

We are looking for volunteers to help at our various youth provisions. We have a youth art group that runs every Friday evening and we also have children and families cooking classes.
The volunteer role will involve working with our youth worker and project worker to deliver art groups, cooking groups or other groups as part of our youth provision. The role will include, setting up and tidying up before and after sessions, working with the young people on various projects, engaging with the young people to help them develop and to find out what they would like to do.To adhere to our safeguarding policy and follow all relelvant procedures.
As independent charities, each Sea Cadet unit has trustees to oversee the management and legal undertakings of the unit. The fundraising trustee is tasked with identifying potential sources of fundraising income and developing business links. This role will undertake “regulated activity” and will therefore require an enhanced disclosure with barring check to be repeated at no less than three yearly intervals.
Supported by our unit management team, you will be tasked to:
· Be the lead person in generating funds for the unit.
· Identify fundraising sources, including advice, guidance and support from National Support Centre Fundraising team.
· Develop links with local contacts and business and produce a database of potential funders.
· Raise awareness of the unit to the local community with the support of other trustees responsible for marketing and communications.
· Provide support and guidance on fundraising requirements relevant to other volunteers.
· To assist the unit management team in the generation of unit funds through identification of marketing and communications activities.

The facilities trustee is tasked with managing the planned maintenance and upkeep of the unit facilities. This role will undertake “regulated activity” and will therefore require an enhanced disclosure with barring check to be repeated at no less than three yearly intervals.
Supported by our unit management team, you will be tasked with:
- Ensuring that all sites, premises, fixtures and fittings and contents are safe and maintained for
use by cadets, volunteers, visitors and contractors.
- Ensuring site and premises security and integrity is maintained (appropriate locks, fencing, CCTV, emergency and security lighting etc).
- Contributing to the unit Risk Register by ensuring necessary facility risk assessments are carried out and recorded and that in date documents such as an asbestos register, fire and electrical certificates are easily accessible for spot checking.
- Assisting the unit chairperson in ensuring the facilities elements of the unit’s health and safety regime is properly managed and the facilities elements of the Corp’s health and safety procedures are followed.
- Advising the unit chairperson of the appropriate property and contents values for the units’ insurance policies.
- Keeping auditable records of and maintaining these and other documentation relating to the ownership and maintenance of the unit’s premises, fixtures & fittings and contents including plans, leases or licenses and warranties. - Any facilities payments to third parties such as ground rent and rates are met (liaising with the treasurer) and for securing the greatest relief possible.
- Devising annual facilities operating budgets and for liaising with the suppliers of utilities (water, gas, electric, telephone, internet access) to maintain supply, ensure regular meter readings are undertaken and cheapest tariffs achieved, liaising with the unit treasurer as appropriate.
- Devising and pursuing a planned maintenance and development programme (including budget) for the unit’s premises, assets, fixtures and fittings and contents, ideally projected at least five years ahead.
- Arranging and quality control of works by volunteers and third party contractors to maintain and replace the unit’s facilities, arranging estimates, quotations and establishing budgets and approving invoices as being ready and accurate for payment by the unit treasurer.
- Managing the hire arrangement and income generation from the unit’s facilities. This includes helping devise charging policies, arranging and managing lettings to third parties and supporting the treasurer in collecting payments. It is to be noted, however, this does not include a caretaker role.
- Advising the unit chairperson and working with the trustees responsible for fundraising on applications to the MSSC Premises Fund and assisting with the identification and applications of external capital funding.
- Reporting regularly on the above principal tasks at unit management team meetings.
- Work closely with the Unit Boats Officer to ensure boating assets are properly maintained and details recorded.

The primary purpose of the chairperson is to maintain, develop and chair an effective unit management team (UMT) that supports the unit and meets the aims of the Sea Cadet experience.
The secondary purposes of the unit chairperson are:
· To ensure that all the unit’s activities and matters are conducted legally and comply with charity regulations and Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC) policy and procedures.
· To ensure the general welfare, safety and protection of volunteers and cadets when they are involved in unit matters or activities.
· Encouraging cadet forum participation and where appropriate a cadet presence at UMT meetings and unit Annual General Meetings.
· In conjunction with the UMT, to provide a properly maintained, serviced, safe and secure unit premises and property, that is either loaned or owned by the unit.
· In conjunction with the UMT and advised by the CO/OiC to provide where possible the resources necessary for efficient and successful training in the unit.
· To ensure, in consultation with the DO and AO that the unit has a suitable and effective CO/OiC and trained volunteers to meet unit needs.
· To identify unit priorities and potential issues and in conjunction with the UMT develop and maintain plans to address those issues.
