Rose Enthusiast

Castlebank Horticultural Centre sits within the historic Castlebank Park, on the banks of the Clyde in Lanark. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to facilitate the maintenance and propagation from our rose collection. There is an opportunity for the development of the rose garden, including for the introduction of new plants and cultivars. Castlebank volunteers are supported by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Together we propagate and grow a wide range of heirloom vegetables, herbs, rare edible plants, herbaceous perennials, alpines, succulents, trees and shrubs for education and the restoration of historic Castlebank Park. This volunteer position would be ideal for an experienced gardener who is enthusiastic about roses and is looking to use their skills and knowledge to help out in the community. The volunteer will work with our Educational Gardener Stuart and fellow volunteers to maintain and develop the rose garden and herbaceous borders in the historic Castlebank Park terraced gardens. Specific tasks and duties: • Leading maintenance of the rose gardens including educating volunteers, dead heading, organic spraying, feeding, pruning etc. • Helping to maintain and develop herbaceous borders • Helping to maintain infrastructure

I Bike Schools Volunteer East Lothian

Are you passionate about cycling and walking? Could you inspire young people to cycle or walk more? Volunteer with I Bike! You don't need to be a cyclist, we have a range of outdoor activities to help out with. I Bike is a really fun and rewarding project to volunteer with that offers plenty of opportunities to get outdoors for cycling-related activities, boost the CV, gain experience of work with children and young people, meet new people and learn new skills. Good training and support is provided to all volunteers including an online Welcome Session, Child Protection Training, Cycling Skills and Bike Repairs. For most activities you don't have to own a bike to join in - bikes and helmets can be provided depending on availability. I Bike aims to help children and young people become more active through taking part in cycling and walking activities. You would be volunteering alongside a dedicated I Bike Officer in schools, supporting activities for children such as learn to cycle, playground cycle skills, led bike rides, led walks, bike maintenance and much more! Workshop Volunteer

  • Remakery (Alloa Community Enterprises)

ABOUT ACE Alloa Community Enterprises (ACE) are currently looking for a Workshop Volunteer within their Remakery. The Remakery is a reuse charity hub, looking for a skilled volunteer for less than 16 hours per week. This role will be to assist in crafting, making and teaching volunteers about climate change, through crafts and recycling, whilst building soft skills and providing support to those with ASN. THE ROLE Duties will include welcoming people into the Remakery, assisting with enquiries, making and pricing items. For volunteers that would rather not be customer facing, there are hands on scrap sorting in the warehouse, tidying, stocking shelves, and making sure all health and safety is compliant. For the more creative volunteers, you can help make items and craft packs from scrap materials in the store to sell at events and online. ACE have a dedicated craft area for this.
