Scotland Versus Arthritis is looking for individuals willing to lead short health walks in your area, lead on other physical activities, or facilitate virtual support groups. Full training and on-going support for volunteers will be available.
We are also looking for expressions of interest from anyone keen to become an instructor of Tai Chi or Qi Gong for arthritis.
The current Covid restrictions have meant that for many the wait for treatment may be a year or more away.
Painkilling prescriptions are seldom more than a temporary relief. Support and exercise can however offer a better way to self manage the daily on-going pain and fatigue.
In readiness for the eventual lifting of lockdown we are asking, can you spare an hour or two each month to help?
Please contact your local Development Officer, Dr. P. Neville, p.neville@versusarthritis.org or phone 07501 501114 for details.
REAP is currently looking for 2 or 3 volunteers to help support upcoming gardening sessions at their Maryhill Therapeutic Garden in Elgin. Working alongside the REAP team, volunteers will help participants get involved in gardening activities, helping people to build their skills, confidence, and wellbeing.
Therapeutic gardening is the use of garden space to improve and build resilience in mental health; to increase physical activity; develop social skills and encourage a healthier diet. REAP’s aim is to help participants improve their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing through gardening and socialising in a beautiful, peaceful environment.
Sessions are returning soon on February 11th and will run on a weekly basis on Tuesday afternoons 2-5pm or Friday mornings 10-12:30pm. Volunteers can help people take part in various gardening activities such as sowing seeds, learning about composting and harvesting vegetables to take home. There’s also a chance to socialise during the tea breaks! Volunteers will also be supported in their development by being offered training relevant to the project.
If you are a friendly, patient person, able to engage with a wide variety of people, and can volunteer outside in a practical way, have an interest in gardening ( food growing or ornamental 😊 ), or even have skills that could help build a new garden bench!) please do get in touch with REAP, who will be very happy to tell you more about how to get involved.

Our Buckie lifeboat crew couldn’t launch without a strong fundraising crew in support. You could save lives at sea by helping organise and run fundraising activities in the area. Could you spare a couple of hours to help at a store collection?
As part of our fundraising crew you will be supporting the lifesaving work of the volunteer lifeboat crew.
The RNLI has a wide network of local fundraising teams/groups organising a broad range of events and activities each year raising vital life-saving funds. The teams/groups are supported by a Community Manager.
The range and frequency of the events is determined by the team members themselves and the amount of time volunteered is up to the individual.
We are keen to welcome new people with new ideas and new skills into our local team so that we can develop our programme of fundraising activities and events in new, creative and innovative ways and contribute to saving more lives at sea.
Together we save lives at sea.
The impact you will make
You will enable volunteer RNLI lifeboat crews to save lives at sea by carrying out and supporting vital fundraising activity in your local community.
Join our team of volunteer drivers! Volunteer drivers are needed to drive 15 seater mini bus on various outings with the Forres for older people/and/or people with disabilities. The more drivers means that the more the mini bus can be used! This is a flexible and much needed way to help the community and to help isolated folk who don't or cannot get an outing, to do so! Email jo@forresospreybus.co.uk if you'd like to join the volunteer driving team.

Volunteering at CAB as an adviser is hugely rewarding. Each session is different and clients come to us with issues as diverse as consumer issues through to housing problems and those simply looking to be signposted to another organisation. We are looking for people who love to work as part of our friendly team and have an open and enthusiastic manner. Advisers help clients reach informed decisions and may assist in drafting letters, making phone calls and filling in forms.
We are looking for people who would be able to commit to giving six hours per week to CAB although this may be negotiable. This would be split over two sessions per week.

Love Books? Look no further for your perfect volunteering opportunity. Join the team at the British Heart Foundation shop in Elgin sorting, pricing and displaying merchandise in their book department!
Elgin Museum is Scotland’s oldest continuously independent museum and run entirely by volunteers. Would you be interested in joining us as a visitor service volunteer?
This very rewarding work includes welcoming visitors and helping visitor's orientate themselves to the museum, so they can make the most of their visit!
A willingness to learn about the Museums collections, and ability to explain to visitors how and where to access information, are essential for the volunteer role. (Looking at the displays and their interpretation is the best way to familiarise yourself – and you can always ask questions of more seasoned volunteers on duty with you!)
The ability to serve in the shop, including the use of a (very simple) card reader and to communicate with the front desk via walkie would also be helpful.
Full Training will be given with an induction to the Museum’s workings. Volunteers will need to be comfortable and able to work independently after being given initial training.
If you feel this volunteering role is for you, please email: curator@elginmuseum.org.uk or visit our website https://elginmuseum.org.uk/volunteering/
Volunteers support Clan's vital transportation service across the North East and Moray for clients attending Aberdeen, Raigmore and Dr Grays hospitals for cancer treatment. In this role, you'll be able to use your driving experience of course but also develop your listening and support skills.
Outfit Moray is looking for volunteer drivers to support the delivery of their outdoor learning and adventure opportunities. Not all of Outfit Moray's outdoor instructors can drive a minibus, so we often need drivers to transport our groups from our base in Lossiemouth to the activity location in Moray. Transport requires trailer towing, for which a D1/D1E category licence is required.
They are looking for confident, competent drivers. Trailer towing experience is preferred but not essential as training can be given.
