As Scouts, we believe in empowering young people with skills for life. We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more. The Treasurer will be accountable for the finances of Clyde Scouts, providing oversight to the finance team.
What are we looking for?
You will be able to devote around 2-4 days a month to support meetings, events and calls in relation to fulfilling this role. Much of this time may be in the evening or at weekends and can be actioned over zoom or call.

Purpose of the role

Person Specification
• Experience of managing finance and accounts at a senior level,
• Excellent organisational skills, supported by strong commercial acumen.
• An accountancy qualification (chartered accountant)
• Experience of managing accounts for a charity would also be an advantage.
• An understanding of the type of work undertaken by the charity and commitment to the values and ethos of Clyde Scouts
• Demonstrable experience of building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues to achieve organisational objectives.
• An interest in Scouting would be beneficial.

Role Overview
• Act as Treasurer for Clyde Scouts
• Manage and monitor the financial activities of the charity in conjunction with the Accountant, and report to the Regional Executive Committee.
• Provide the Regional Executive Committee with regular reports on the creation of budgets and financial planning, to allow appropriate monitoring of these.
• Oversee the preparation of the Annual Statement of Accounts for independent examination (or audit) and approval by the Regional Executive Committee and present these at the Annual General Meeting.
• Oversee the process of audit, as appropriate, of the Annual Statement of Accounts in accordance with the Scouts ‘Policy, Organisation and Rules’.
Main duties
• Protect the assets and integrity of the charity, with regard to best practice.
• Maintain good relations with Clyde Scouts staff, and with volunteers.
• Ensure that the charity remains in a financially sustainable position and has appropriate reserves.
• Ensure that the charity has appropriate accounting procedures and controls in place and that the financial procedures are up to date and reviewed as necessary.
• Review the process of any internal controls and oversee the implementation of any recommendations. • Oversee and review the charities financial risk register.
• Oversee the investment policy of the charity and liaise with the Investment managers.
• Oversee the insurance requirements of the charity and recommend review outcomes to the Regional Executive Committee following any tendering process
• Review any business cases for capital expenditure from the Senior Leadership Team and advise the Regional Executive Committee, as appropriate
• Support the Accountant and Chief Operating officer in reviewing the commercial operations of the charity to minimise financial risk and reporting to Regional Executive Committee.
• Fulfil such other duties and assignments as may be required from time to time by the Regional Executive Committee.
• Engage with members at other levels in Scouting.
Reporting lines and relationships:
• The Treasurer is an elected appointment and a charity trustee of Clyde Scouts.
• The Treasurer reports to the Regional Executive Committee.

Growchapel is a welcoming, inclusive site for the people of Drumchapel to enjoy, relax, and grow within. Established in 2018, Moray Rape Crisis provides therapeutic support, information and advocacy for children, young people and adults of all genders, aged 11 and over, in the Moray area, who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives, including rape, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. We also work directly with young people in schools and youth settings, and with strategic partners, towards preventing sexual violence.

As a volunteer Lunch Club Helper, you will welcome the people that come along and encourage them to feel as comfortable as possible while chatting and playing games. The role will also involve helping our friendly team of volunteers set up our halls, serving lunch/meals and tidying up afterwards.
The role requires a PVG (Disclosure) check, which will be paid for by Age Concern.
Lunch clubs run from 10 am - 2.30 pm with some time for prep added on, therefore, if suitable, we are looking for volunteers to help out for 5½ hours.
In this role, you are making a difference in people's lives who may feel lonely or isolated; it's enjoyable and rewarding also. You will become part of a friendly team of volunteers who share the same passion for helping others.

• Providing face-to-face support in the community or in people’s homes to alleviate loneliness and help with simple practical tasks
• Adopting a non-judgemental and supportive approach to understand the needs and concerns of people living with cancer at this time
• Supporting 1-3 people living with cancer every week for up to 12 visits
• Completing post call ‘records of activity’ reports and using all required systems
• Joining group catch up calls every 4-6 weeks to get key updates and/or share good practice
• Volunteering within agreed hours and following all best practice guidelines
• Signposting to additional support if required and raising any further concerns with the Macmillan team

We are looking for volunteers to assist with our adult services Friday afternoon drama groups where the emphasis is on encouraging participation and creativity through drama in a fun, supportive environment. This volunteering role will suit someone who is calm, friendly and helpful. It is also a good opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience of supporting adults with a range of learning disabilities, to get the most out of their time in a creative setting.

We are looking to recruit an Administration Volunteer for the Shetland Group. Our Administration Volunteers are the linchpin for our local groups’ activities. They act as the first point of contact and they make sure all relevant information is circulated to other volunteers and members. And they play an important role in keeping our data and details up to date to comply with data protection legislation.
In this role you’ll develop your administration and organisation skills. Most importantly you’ll be help your local group run efficiently, so they can keep providing valuable services to our MS community.
Time Commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
