Love Her Wild is a UK-based nonprofit women’s adventure community. We believe outdoor adventures boost well-being, increase confidence and help protect our planet through better connections to nature. Love Her Wild is an inclusive community providing opportunities, support and funding to make the outdoors more accessible. Many of these experiences are run in our Local Groups and led by Local Wilders. We now have 39 local groups covering the whole of the UK including 10 groups in Scotland! Most of our Scottish groups are new so we are reaching out for volunteers who can help us build the community in Scotland. Each of these groups is run by a Local Wilder. These groups give women and non-binary people the opportunity to connect with others looking for adventure, ask for advice, share their stories, and join local meetups.
Local Wilders have a wide ranging but flexible role which can be adapted to suit the needs of the volunteer and the wants of the Local Group. As well as leading outdoor activities you will also be responsible for a Facebook group and community. Most groups have more than one Local Wilder who work together to manage their group. The description bellow outlines the typical responsibility taken on by a local wilder. however if you are interested in volunteer but are not sure you are able to meet certain aspects of the role then please get in touch so we can discuss how you could be involved.
You need to be:
• Enthusiastic about helping other women experience adventure.
• Confident to stand up, chat and lead in front of a group of women.
• Experienced enough to lead a walk/ride/swim etc in your local area.
• Competent enough on social media to help with admin work within the group.
• Able to commit to running 8 (or more!) events each year as Local Wilder as a mixture of evening and weekend events.
As a local wilder you will be expected to:
• Help admin the online group (approx 1 hour per week, usually 10 minutes a day),
approving membership requests, checking the mood of discussions (stepping in if required to maintain peace), and removing any advertising or offensive members. We will work together as team to do this and discuss any borderline cases together by messenger.
• Run FREE local events in your local group. (approx 8 per year between 3-7hours) These could be walks, bike rides, , wild swims, canoe trips, camping trips, surfing, picnic’s, SUP trips, trail running or anything else that you fancy organising!
• Help maintain online engagement within the Facebook group (particularly over the winter months) This might include hosting a free online zoom event or sharing educational content.
Benefits and rewards.
• It’s hugely rewarding. You'll get to accompany people on life changing trips from their first wild swims, first camping trips and confidence building first expeditions.
• The opportunity to meet and chat with a broad range of women and make new friendships.
• There is the option to run occasional paid events within our group (once you have some experience with running free events). With the agreement of Love Her Wild staff and using pre-approved qualified leaders the Local Wilder who undertakes the organisation for these events will have a free place made available to them in return for their time.
• Free attendance at the Local Wilder Weekend (run approximately every 9 months). This is a weekend open to all Local Wilders giving them an opportunity to meet each other, gain advice and mentorship, take part in training and have lots of fun!
We are looking for some friendly helpers to take a group of Afghan women who have recently arrived in Inverness to swimming lessons.
They are learning to swim in specially organised women's only sessions which are being facilitated by Highlife Highland. The feedback so far is that they are really enjoying learning to swim for the first time. Unfortunately challenges in organising transport to and from the pool may put a stop to the program, unless we can find some amazing volunteers to help out. Could that be you?
You would pick up the 9 Seater Community Centre Minibus at 6pm (Wednesday) and then the women from their houses, before going to the swimming pool. You are invited to join the swimming session with the women (for free), which runs from 8-9pm and then drop everyone and the bus back.
You don't need to commit to doing every week, but signing up for even just a few sessions will be a huge help. Starting Jan 2024
It will be a wonderful opportunity to support recently arrived Afghan women to learn a new skill and settle into Inverness, as well as a chance to share a fun activity, make friends across cultures and have a good swim together!
We aim to have two volunteers helping for each session to support each other (we know volunteering alone can feel a bit daunting!) and you will be well supported by the coordinators at HLH who run the program.
Due to the nature of the program, we can only consider women volunteers.
You will have a clean driving license (No minibus license required) be able to provide a PVG check, or be willing to do one (we can help you get this).
Kirkwall parkrun takes place every Saturday morning, starting at The Peedie Sea at 9.30am. It is an organised run, jog or walk which is free to participate in. Registration is online with participants printing off their personalised barcode which is scanned at the finish line to allow the results to be emailed to the participant. They are in need of volunteers to be marshalls, tail walkers, barcode scanners, handing out finishing tokens and being timekeepers.
Both scanning and timekeeping will require use of the parkrun app so a mobile phone will be required.

When you volunteer at them you’ll have fun, get messy, meet new people and run activities that help our members discover their potential. You can choose to work with girls in Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Rangers, and you’ll be volunteering directly with them. Unit meetings are usually an hour to an hour and a half once a week. As a unit leader, assistant leader or leader-in-training you’ll join a team of volunteers to run the unit, plan meetings, and deliver awesome activities. If you’d like to become a leader, we’ll support you to complete our leadership qualification. Some of what you’ll do Each unit leadership team does things a little differently. Here are some of the activities that are part of being in the team:
Help plan and deliver activities which are based on our Girlguiding programme - These are accessible and inclusive. Often they’re planned by volunteers and girls at the beginning of term.
You’ll go to your unit meeting each week and run activities with the girls and other volunteers.
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Girlguiding, so you’ll help provide a safe space where every girl and young woman can take part.
You’ll also be keeping up the Doing Our Best standards for your unit.
You’ll complete training for the role and follow Girlguiding policies.
You might communicate with parents, carers and other Girlguiding volunteers.
Leaders usually spend two to five hours a week outside of the unit time on the role (depending on how the unit responsibilities are shared and what activities are planned). This might include contacting new members or going to district meetings.
Leaders share issues and concerns with local commissioners.
We are seeking someone passionate about amplifying migrant women's voices in the media to join the Migrant Women Press team as a Social Media and Community Engagement Officer.
The Social Media and Engagement Officer will be key to the ongoing success and development of Migrant Women Press online presence and engagement with our social media community, organisations and stakeholders.
As a team member, you will work closely with the Founder Editor and other team members to promote our recently established organisation, driving forward Migrant Women Press mission, strategic development and play a crucial role in defining the growth of our social enterprise.
About us
Migrant Women Press is a migrant women-led, independent media platform focused on women’s experiences with migration.
We discuss migration through migrant women’s lenses and are interested in investigating how the intersections of race, gender, class, nationality and disability impact women’s experiences in a new country.
Since we were created in 2020, we have published content by women from different ethnic backgrounds: Black, Asian, Arabic, White, Roma, mixed-race, age groups and nationalities. Our website has contributions from women from the UK, Romania, Turkey, Pakistan, Ukraine, Italy, Slovakia, Brazil, the US, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, St Tome and Prince, Germany, Rwanda, and Senegal.
Our vision is a world where we see more diverse voices in the media and that migrant women stories are appreciated. We want to redefine narratives around migration.
Skills and experience
At this stage of Migrant Women Press journey, we are seeking a Social Media and Community Engagement Officer with experience in creating engagement content for social media platforms, increase social engagement and promote Migrant Women Press online.
You will:
· Develop in collaboration with other team members Migrant Women Press social media guidelines.
· Develop Migrant Women Press social media strategy and planning the social media calendar.
· Maintaining and implementing content plan for social media channels (primarily Instagram, Twitter and Facebook) including drafting copy, creating content and ensure consistent posting for all channels.
· Bring creative ideas to promote Migrant Women Press online, such as in events to build community and boost brand awareness.
· Attend editorial meetings and advisory board meetings.
· Provide support on especial projects and events.
You must also be:
● Passionate about Migrant Women Press work and create opportunities for migrant women in the media.
● Take a genuine interest in our work by sharing your ideas and guiding our future goals with your skills &/or your lived experience
● Contribute to planning and actively participate in meetings and email communication
● Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and journalism standards

Are you a woman who could give 4+ hours each week/fortnight to help support an exciting new social enterprise café in Broughty Ferry? We are based in Castle Green playpark, by the Castle and beachfront and are open Fri/Sat and Sundays for barista coffee, freshly prepared vegetarian and vegan foods and lovely home bakes.
We are a not for profit and are run by an all female professional team set up to support our women volunteers. Our cafe can be very busy, so if you are interested in a career in hospitality or love local sustainable food, this is a great environment to be involved! Our youngest volunteer is 16 and our oldest is 79- we have a diverse community and we operate a 'kind kitchen'. There are opportunities for barista, professional cookery, customer service and till handling. We aim to build self confidence and self esteem through our community.
Are you passionate about digital communications and creating outreach content for an online community? If so, we are looking for someone to join our team and work alongside us to develop digital communications strategies and content to empower our community and promote our existing and future projects.
We are an arts-based media project supporting women and people from marginal communities to showcase their work and connect with arts focused opportunities across Scotland. Our placement opportunity will provide you with an opportunity to develop digital content to support connecting with our existing community and create growth opportunities to reach out to new members.
The role includes:
• Creating digital communication strategies to connect with people inclusive and supportive of their community and individual needs.
• Creation of community focused digital content for social media platforms.
• Supporting the development and implementation of community connection and growth strategy.
• Analysis of engagement data and supporting the creation of solutions to increase community connections.
• Working alongside the Zya Community team to support sharing of existing projects via digital communication.
The commitment is negotiable depending on availability however there is a minimum of 4 hours a week required. We can support with connecting the role with academic outcomes and have flexibility around role duties.

The role will help give girls opportunities for fun, friendship, challenge and adventure! Girlguiding's unit helpers usually work with other volunteers to assist in delivering a high-quality programme to the girls and young women in the unit, while ensuring the safety of the unit members. Unit helpers assist the unit leadership team in running units (groups) of Rainbows (age 4-7), Brownies (age 7-10), Guides (age 10-14), and Rangers (age 14-18). You will be part of a Leadership Team that includes at least one unit leader, assistant leaders and possibly also young leaders and other unit helpers.
What is the purpose of this role?
To help give girls opportunities for fun, friendship, challenge and adventure! Occasional Helpers usually work with other volunteers to assist in delivering a high-quality programme to the girls and young women in the unit, while ensuring the safety of the unit members. Helpers assist in running units (groups) of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers on a regular or ad-hoc basis. You will be supported by at least one Unit Leader, Assistant Leaders, Young Leaders and other Unit Helpers and Occasional Helpers.
What will I do as a unit helper?
The responsibilities below will be shared among the Unit Leadership Team. As a helper you will work with others in the team to make the most of the skills and time you are able to give.
- Provide a safe girl-only space where girls and young women can discover their full potential.
- Provide support to members of the unit and the Unit Leadership Team.
- Take an active role in creating and delivering an accessible and inclusive programme, based on the Girlguiding programme for your section.
- Encourage and support the members of the unit in making decisions within the unit and the wider Girlguiding community.
- Develop and maintain clear communications with the Unit Leader and other members of the
Leadership Team.
- Maintain clear communication with parents and carers.
- Be willing to participate in any relevant ‘on-the-job’ training for the role.
- Comply with current Girlguiding policies and regulations.

Girlguiding welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities. We are flexible, and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle.
Our units are currently meeting online and/ or outdoors. This autumn we anticipate that units will also return to indoor guiding but the situation will differ from area to area, following Scottish Government advice and regulations. When you register interest, we'll chat to you about whether you are interested in supporting units face to face (indoors or outdoors) or remotely (whether as part of online guiding or by supporting other ways of staying in touch remotely)

Rainbows welcomes all girls from 4 to 7 years old for play, learning and tons of fun in a colourful, safe space. Rainbows laugh, sing and make a happy mess (and help clear it up!) as they choose their way through our programme of activities. Rainbows have plenty of magic moments: they might become a time traveller, an animal tracker, a pop singer, a stargazer. It’s a wonderful world of adventure, week after week, just for them.
Brownies welcomes all girls from 7 to 10 years old for nonstop fun, learning and adventure. It’s full of firsts: she might grow her first plant, cook her first cake, put up (and take down) her first tent, light her first fire, go on her first fun-packed weekend away with guiding friends. With a helpful hand from our encouraging volunteers, she’ll explore her creative side, get out into the great outdoors, and start learning to look after herself, others and the world we live in. There’s something for every girl at Brownies, and plenty of moments she’ll never forget.
Guides is a relaxed, welcoming space where you can have fun, learn and be yourself with good friends from 10 to 14 years old. A place where you can explore the things you love and do stuff you’ve never done before. Where else can you think up a new sport, make a new perfume, cook over a campfire, design an advertising campaign, have a mocktail party, raise money for a charity you believe in? At Guides, you can do all of this and loads more.
Rangers is your space – where you get together with other girls from 14 to 18 to have fun, learn more, give back, hang out, and just be you. It’s regular meetings with your local group, trips at home and abroad, making a difference to the things you care about. It’s an open and relaxed space to talk with good friends – it’s qualifications, and badges and awards. It’s the freedom to be more independent, and to do what makes you happy. Rangers is what you make of it.
