Urgent Tutors needed to start 8th January 2024, Secondary and Primary

  • Inclusive Homework Club

he Inclusive Homework Club was founded in 2018 to create an educational support hub for people with learning difficulties and from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our team of dedicated volunteers is at the heart of what we do, providing education support and encouragement to children, families, and adults who need it most. By volunteering for the Inclusive Homework Club, you will gain new skills and experiences, but most importantly you will make a difference in the educational outcomes of children, whose parents are unable to fully support them. We provide extra support for children with: •Learning difficulties. •Asylum-seeking, refugee, and/or ethnic backgrounds. •Families who have difficulty providing extra support. •Adult learning courses for Asylum-seeking, refugee, and/or ethnic backgrounds and anyone looking to learn new skills. We are urgently looking for Tutors who can provide educational support in Secondary Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Maths, as well as supporting Primary students. We help children from P1 up to S6 in a wide range of subjects, so whatever your skills we want to hear from you! Each session lasts one hour, and we require a minimum commitment of two hours per week. Currently, volunteering will take place face to face Monday - Wednesday. Thursdays are entirely dedicated to online sessions. Our schedule is as follows: • Monday/ Tuesday: 4pm-7pm at Kinning Park Complex, 43 Cornwall St, Glasgow G41 1BA. • Wednesday: 4:30pm-6pm at Clyde Community Hall, 41 Whitefield Rd, City, Glasgow G51 2YB. • Thursday: 4pm-7pm, online. If you are interested please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the Project Coordinator by email or phone. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the Project Manager, Firdaus at firdaus@inclusivehwclub.org.uk. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow at info@volunteerglasgow.org. A PVG is required to become a tutor so all interested applicants must be able to pass a background check. Due to urgency, having an existing PVG membership is highly preferred. However, we will start your PVG application if needed and related costs will be covered by us. Once you have your PVG cleared you are ready to go! We will have training on the 8th January 2024 (4-7pm) For more information, feel free to contact Borui (Volunteer Coordinator) at borui@inclusivehwclub.org.uk or 07482695432 - they will get back in touch during office hours, Monday to Wednesday 11.00am-6pm.

Radio scriptwriting is one of the secrets of having an interesting ongoing conversation on air. While many people assume that live broadcasters come up with all their content on the spot, successful radio professionals often plan carefully, just as professional actors rehearse extensively, so their delivery seems spontaneous. Duties: Scriptwriting for radio productions, events or website and/or voice on-air for what is happening in the community, what’s on promotions, etc.

Tea Party Group Coordinator

  • Re-Engage (Clacks)

Re-engage is a charity that is positive about older age and committed to fighting loneliness so that people can have social lives and friendship groups however old they are. They inspire and enable meaningful connections and shared experiences within communities across the UK for people over 75 facing loneliness and social isolation. Volunteers work together to create better communities and help to enrich the lives of their members by giving them something to look forward to. Older people who may have felt very alone, now feel valued as individuals, continue to form friendships, and have groups that give support. The group make sure that people know they are important well into old age. Respectful, determined, warm, pioneering, and local: they are Re-engage and they are bringing generations together. Tea party group coordinators are a vital part of the Re-engage team. Tea parties provide a lifeline of friendship for all the older people, and the regular, warm, friendly chats and companionship provide a vital link with the outside world from which they have become isolated. Over time, the members of the group will get to know each other well and together you will spend many hours full of fun, laughter, and stories. As a tea party group coordinator, you will ensure older guests know when and where the next tea party will be held and who will be collecting them each month. This is an administrative role that requires planning and scheduling, you must be comfortable organising monthly events with volunteer hosts, socialising, communicating with people and resolving issues that might arise. You will need a DBS (England and Wales) or PVG (Scotland) for this role. Sometimes, tea party group coordinators are also drivers or hosts for their group, but this is not a requirement of being a coordinator. Tasks include: • Welcoming new volunteers and ensuring they have the right checks in place. • Checking ID documents for a DBS (England) or PVG (Scotland) when required. • Meeting / communicating with older guests prior to them joining the group. • Reporting group activity to Re-engage via the feedback form. • Responding to any issues and queries from the volunteers and older guests in your group. • Following all guidance in your group coordinator training modules to ensure that the tea parties are enjoyable, appropriate, and in line with the charitable aims. • Reporting any safeguarding issues that may arise or have been bought to your attention. • Planning and scheduling monthly tea parties. • Contacting hosts and arrange a rota of venues for the year. • Organising the monthly event, ensuring that tea party volunteers (hosts and drivers) have all the support and information they need. • Being the main point of contact for all the volunteers and older guests in your group (an average group has a total of between four and 12 people).
