Hand of Solace is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organization working with isolated/lonely elders and young people by offering direct services and support , all designed to help people make the most of life. We have a range of exciting volunteer opportunities to assist in this and would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in joining our great volunteer team. This includes volunteering at our charity shop in George Street, Aberdeen: We need Charity Shop Assistants who would meet and serve customers at our shop. Come and support us to raise money to support lonely and isolated people. Any amount of hour is appreciated. Just let us know your availability and we shall fit you in. In return you shall be working with a team of friendly people from diverse groups who are always willing to support each other to ensure the we achieve our goal. We’ll give you all the training and support you need to do your role. All help will make a difference and be greatly appreciated. Hand of Solace is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organization working with isolated/lonely elders and young people by offering direct services and support , all designed to help people make the most of life. We have a range of exciting volunteer opportunities to assist in this and would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in joining our great volunteer team: *Our Young People Volunteer Befrienders are matched on a 1:1 basis with a child aged (5-16) within the Aberdeen community and through caring, reliability and consistency build up a trusting relationship, thus providing positive role model. Befrienders shall support the young people to access/attend activities within the community to reduce isolation, promote self-confidence/esteem and to help young people to begin to learn life skills. *Our Older People Volunteer Befrienders are matched on a 1:1 basis with an older person aged 50 and above within the North areas of Aberdeen(including-Stoneywood, Bucksburn, Dyce, Seaton, Northfield and Bridge of Don).Volunteer befrienders visit their befriendees once a week to spend quality time(2-3 hours) with them (which may include support with accessing /attending local activities ) to reduce loneliness and isolation. *We need Charity Shop Assistants who would meet and serve customers at our shop. Come and support us to raise money to support lonely and isolated people. Any amount of hour is appreciated. Just let us know your availability and we shall fit you in. Online Sales Volunteers

Do you know your way around online sales websites? Have you got an interest in researching and listing unusual or sought-after items? Or maybe you could help us promote our donated stock via the web to reach more customers online? We require curious people to help us with our online sales and sell a range of donated items on various websites, allowing customers to raise life-saving funds from home. We’ve got dedicated resources to help and assist you with this unique volunteering role. Research the value of our most exciting donations, photograph them for online auction, or package them up to be sold at our online sales HQ. *Say hello to the team: Funding for researchers begins at your local charity shop. Now, more than ever, we are in urgent need of volunteers to enable us to continue our life saving research and help the 7.6 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases. This wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic volunteers. Our team is welcoming and friendly, and we love meeting people from all walks of life. *Typical tasks include: · Photographing items for listing on various online selling sites · Researching donated items, to gather as much information on unusual items before listing them online – investigative work required! · Getting involved in uploading as much practical information about goods for sale · Packing and posting items to be sent to our online sales HQ / delivered to customers · Helping the Manager to handle online queries from customers *You get a lot from volunteering too: · A chance to work in a friendly team, make new friends & meet a diverse group · The feel-good factor of helping the British Heart Foundation beat heartbreak forever · The time to develop your confidence and interpersonal skills · Gain valuable online selling experience to add to your CV and learn new skills · Flexibility to fit with your lifestyle around your other commitments · Reasonable travel reimbursed in agreement with the Manager · 25% volunteer discount on donated goods (Please note - we are unable to accept volunteers aged under 16 and we cannot accept volunteers with unspent criminal convictions or who are subject to criminal registers/orders). *Here's a little bit more about us: The BHF is here to Beat Heartbreak Forever. Retail Stock Room Assistant Volunteers

If you’re a keen rummager and like things to be neat and tidy, then we have a role for you - helping in our retail stock room to sort the fantastic donations we receive behind the scenes. If you love a bit of ironing, then master the steamer and watch those wrinkles disappear (it’s surprisingly therapeutic!) or become a tagging extraordinaire, allowing customers to understand what item they are purchasing. Whether you’re a lover of vintage clothing, films, books, vinyl records or stunning jewellery – or perhaps you just fancy the company of other friendly volunteers away from the shop floor whilst making a difference - our retail stock room role is the place to be behind the scenes. *Say hello to the team: Funding for researchers begins at your local charity shop. Warehouse Volunteers

If you like to keep active and stay in shape, volunteering in one of our local furniture store warehouses could be the answer you’re looking for. We need helpful and active people to help keep our stock moving from the van to warehouse and onto the store and from store back to the van for delivery! Shop Reception Volunteers

Do you have a welcoming manner? Like varied tasks? The Shop Reception Volunteer role may suit you. The Gordon Highlanders Museum is committed to preserving and sharing the legacy of the world famous Gordon Highlanders Regiment for future generations. A Gordon Highlanders Museum Guide brings to life the extraordinary 200 year story of ‘The Finest Regiment in the World’. (Sir Winston Churchill 1900). A Shop/reception Volunteer is the first point of contact for Visitors to the Museum whether they are interested in going round the exhibitions, meeting with a volunteer or member of staff or visiting the tea room. Stocking the shop shelves, dealing with enquiries, operating the till, cash handling and credit card sales are all part of this busy role. A fantastic opportunity to help at an award winning Museum.
