Do you enjoy making memories with older people, talking to a small group and helping entertain and help others have fun.
You will assist organising an activities programme and help with finer details to make the day memorable. If you have not called bingo you will learn. The group will be with older ladies mostly who have walking difficulties and are not able to get out the house or live alone.
You will set a weekly activity programme for once per week. Available for 12:30-3:15 in the afternoon on a Monday and or Thursday. You will be supported by a centre staff member and assist compiling the activity and doing a stint clearing up.
Breaking Borders is a group for women who have been displaced from their home countries, giving them the opportunity to connect with women going through the same journey. The group meets every Monday at Hope Wellbeing in Ayr, and aims to try out a new craft activity every week. The group provides a safe space for women and given the nature of the group female volunteers would be preferred for the opportunity.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help with tasks including setting up the space, mentoring/providing a listening ear to group members, signposting members to other organisations for additional help, running a craft activity, spending time with group members to speak English, and helping to look after the group member's children.
This is a flexible volunteer opportunity and we would be interested in speaking to you even if you cannot commit on a regular basis. We especially need extra volunteers during school holidays to work with young people. We are also hoping to expand our service to include making home visits so if a Monday afternoon does not suit please still get in touch.
Girls in Brownies have incredible experiences together, make brilliant friends and discover the world around them. Every time they meet up, groups of Brownies learn new skills and take on challenges as they work out what they want to be and do in the future.
We are looking for volunteers to help us set up a Brownie unit in Crosshill. We already run the Guides and the Rangers units yet there is already a demand for a Brownie Unit. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is training to work in teaching or childcare, and would like to gain experience.
