Communications Volunteer (Moray)

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community. We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the Moray Group. As our Communications Volunteer you’ll make sure people know they have a local MS Society group to turn to. In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels. Time commitment We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role. This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS. About you You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services. Volunteers will be working on the reception desk at SMFA, a community facility with a public café. As a volunteer you will greet visitors/customers as they come into the premises; take bookings; check emails, voice mails and answer the telephone; check the facility for cleanliness and deal with any other issues as they arise (including Health and Safety). SMFA is a vibrant/lively place to work, with a variety of groups using the premises. There is a chance to meet and chat to lots of interesting people and no two days are the same.

Administration Support-WDCVS Forum

No matter how good our services are, we can't properly support our community well if we don't have good Support people in the team. If this sounds like you?... we would love you to consider volunteering with us for a few hours per week. WDCVS is the local third sector interface for West Dunbartonshire, we are looking for some Administrative support for our forums. We have 5 forums currently running and we would like someone who is able to contact the forum membership by email to inform them of the day and time of the next forum meeting, we would ask our forum volunteer to follow up the initial email contact with a phone call to confirm numbers for each forum meeting. Keeping notes of who has attended the forum and to send out the minutes once the forum has finished. Our forum volunteer can join in with both our online and in-person events, as a volunteer at the events we would look for the volunteer to take notes to accompany the minutes of the facilitator and we would encourage our volunteer to participate in the forum discussions. WDCVS VISA employability scheme is where volunteers who are actively looking for work can brush up on the skills that employers are looking for, the VISA certificate highlights the skills that the volunteer has achieved in their volunteer role, the certificate can be created and sent to them as a PDF.

Membership Secretary (Ratho Branch)

To act as a membership secretary for the Ratho Branch only of Seagull Trust Cruises Role Summary ... This is a new role which has previously been handled by the Branch Secretary and which can be developed by the volunteer according to skills and aptitude. It involves working with Branch to recruit new volunteers, maintaining records of existing volunteers and generally keeping in contact with them. Most communications are by email and basic IT skills are needed. The Branch has a reception centre at Ratho giving an opportunity to meet other volunteers but the role would be essentially "working from home". The volunteer would be welcome to join a boat crew and join cruises if desired. The Membership Secretary will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth membership processes and effective communication within the organization

Role Title: Trustee/Treasurer Role description of volunteering opportunity: The Club runs its own powerchair football training sessions on Tuesdays between 7pm and 10pm at the Citadel in Ayr. Sessions specifically designed for wheelchair users across the Ayrshire region. Ayrshire Tigers PFC is a community-based Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) based in Ayr which works in partnership with the Scottish Powerchair Football Association (SPFA) to provide equal opportunities for powerchair users in Ayrshire to engage in team sport. The Club is an independent organisation run by its own board of trustees which is elected by its members. The club is focused on providing opportunities to play, coach and support powerchair football and is open to everyone. The team is currently playing in the Scottish Powerchair Football Championship. The Club was formed to benefit wheelchair users living in Ayrshire to engage in team sport and prevent isolation by offering a place for people to come and feel welcome, have fun and be part of a team. Would you like to give a little back to your local community? Would you like to gain invaluable experience in Project Management, Committee Meetings and Teamwork? Do you have some spare time to help a local charity involved in helping people with disabilities to engage in sport? We are currently seeking committee members with life skills or business experience to assist with the continuous improvement of our work. Benefits of being a board member with Ayrshire Tigers PFC include • Supporting the work of organisation. • Meeting new people. • Being part of a team. • Developing new and existing skills. We are looking for a Treasurer to join our committee and help guide our organisation as it moves forward into what we see as a new and exciting phase. Our Treasurer will work as part of the Board providing financial oversight and preparing regular finance reports to ensure financial rigour across our organisation. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and dynamic individual(s) with accounting and finance experience to assist with the continuous improvement of our work. The committee meets once every three months for two hours. If you are new to community work, support and training will be provided. A full UK driving license is desirable but not essential. Role Title: Secretary Role description of volunteering opportunity: An opportunity to work as part of a team and to develop your communicative skills. The Club Secretary is the hub of the club, acting as the club's communicator with our membership and external organisations. The Secretary plays a key role in supporting the Chair and being part of a small and committed team. The secretary also plays a vital role in assisting the committee ensure the Club runs smoothly. Duties: • Preparing for meetings • Sending notices of all meetings to members within the time required by the governing document • Making arrangements for meetings – booking rooms, arranging refreshments, ensuring access for all attending • Preparing the agenda in consultation with the Chair and distributing the agenda with any background papers • Checking that members have carried out tasks agreed at the previous meeting. • Participating in meetings • Ensuring that the minutes of the previous meeting are accurate, agreed and signed and dated on each page by the Chair • Taking and producing minutes of the meeting, noting the names of those attending and apologies, major decisions, any votes taken and agreed further actions • Distributing minutes in a timely manner. A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential. This role will primarily take place within the individual’s own home therefore access to appropriate technology is required although if this is not feasible they will support you in any means possible. On occasions you may be required to visit training to meet players and coaches and attend committee members when required.
