Volunteer Driver - North Lanarkshire

Description

We are looking for volunteers who can provide a strong foundation to help strengthen their communities by helping Care Experienced children and young people engage in activities to build their skills and confidence and to be included, understood, respected, and valued in their communities.

Transport is one of the biggest barriers our young people face in being able to attend their group. This role has a focus on picking up young people and driving them to Bellshill where the group is based and then returning them home after the session. Pick ups are across the North Lanarkshire area.

This role will involve interacting with primary aged young people at our fortnightly sessions as well as at our National events that happen throughout the year. There could be opportunities to support the group work between pick ups and drops offs.

Frequency and commitment details

Crafty Foxes meets every second Tuesday 5pm – 6.30pm (8-12 years) The Volunteer would need to be available from 4pm to pick up the young people. Occasional extras like transporting young people to events.

Restrictions

Will need full clean driving license and own car.
Experience required: Full/Clean Driving License Access to own car Experience of working with children (Not essential) A knowledge of issues affecting Care Experienced children and young people Ability to work well with children and young people
Travel details: Group based in Belshill but driver will be required to do pick ups/drop offs across North Lan.
Minimum age: 18

Training details: Full PVG check required pre induction. Induction and ongoing training relevant to role.

Volunteer Driver - Aberdeen

Would you like to help children with disabilities by assisting with travel to and from our services in Aberdeen? Aberlour Options Aberdeen is a short breaks service, providing residential, community-based short breaks and care at home for children and young people with disabilities. We offer a safe, homely environment for a child to come and stay for a short break that gives their families a rest from their caring role. Volunteer Drivers play an important role in helping transport children to and from our service on our minibus, helping them to feel comfortable and secure. Our services are in the Bucksburn and Garthdee areas of Aberdeen, with journeys frequently across the Aberdeen City area. Volunteer Drivers play an important role in helping children feel safe, secure and relaxed during these journeys. Volunteer Drivers put children at ease, who may otherwise be feeling anxious by interacting with children and being a friendly face to accompany them to and from the service. These interactions help to develop communication skills, building confidence and self-esteem. Volunteer Drivers can gain a real sense of satisfaction from helping children with disabilities travel to and from the Options Aberdeen service, knowing they are making a positive impact and helping to make their time at Option Aberdeen enjoyable. Volunteer Befriender

We're looking for an adult volunteer who will provide a supportive friendship for a socially isolated young person aged between 8 and 18 who lives in South Ayrshire. Ideally this will involve meeting with their young person every couple of weeks for a few hours, spending time together accessing local activities. This includes: • Be matched on a 1:1 basis with a young person. • Go on regular outings and activities with the young person. • Have the opportunity to participate in group outings/activities and also volunteer support sessions. • Keeping in touch with the Project about the young person’s achievements / growth and activities, and to receive ongoing support from the Bfriend team. • Open minded as we work with young people from a wide variety of backgrounds. • Following training, to be able to have empathy and understanding of some of the issues encountered by young people referred to the team. • Continuous focus on the needs of the young person who you are matched with. • Willing to participate in a broad range of activities mutually agreed with the young person. • To be a positive adult role model for the young person and, very importantly, to have FUN! • Have an awareness of and be able to adhere to Bfriend’s policies and procedures.

Minibus Driver

As we cover the whole of Carrick (North and South) transport is a huge issue and cost for the club. Could you help us by driving SACT or Community minibuses? This will allow us to offer transport links to rural areas and give young people in these areas the opportunity to participate in our fantastic sport and committed community club. For this role full membership of the PVG scheme is mandatory but we can organise that free of charge. You will be fully supported by our club committee, volunteers and players. The time commitment for coaching is generally approx. 5 hours per week including 1 weekday evening and either Saturday or Sunday mornings during term time, you will primarily be associated with one year group.
