Description

Multiple different roles to aid the parkrun on Saturday mornings.

Different roles:

  1. Time keeper – stop watch to time the runners.
  2. Position tokens – giving out the tokens to the runners as they finish.
  3. Barcode scanner – scanning the runners barcodes as they finish.
  4. Marshal – standing out on the course to make sure the runners go the correct direction.
  5. Tailwalker and parkwalker – walking behind the last runner to make sure no-one is left
    behind.
  6. Carpark marshal – helping people park sensibly in the carpark.
  7. Photographer – taking photos at the event for our Facebook page.
  8. Pre-event set-up – helping setting up the run before the event.
  9. Finish token sorter – sorting all the tokens out at the end of the run.
  10. Report writer – writing a short report about the run for the Facebook page.

Organisation aims and objectives

Parkruns are free, weekly, community events all around the world. Parkrun is a positive, welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.

Every Saturday at 9.30am-11am No minimum commitment. Occasional volunteering is very welcome (some people only volunteer once or twice a year).

Restrictions

Experience required: No minimum age though anyone under 16 would need an adult supervisor for the marshal, parkwalker, tailwalker and carpark manager roles.

Support

Training details: Training is done at the event but all the roles are fairly simple and easy to pick up. Welcome to shadow for a week or two first if desired.
