Abbeyfield Society has provided sheltered housing for older people in this area for over 50 years. It is important to them that residents who make Abbeyfield their home feel secure, can retain independence and have companionship while enjoying good home cooked food daily in a caring and supportive environment.
The Board of Trustees oversee the management of all matters related to Abbeyfield Dunfermline Society with the key responsibility of governance and directing how the society is managed and run in compliance with law.
They welcome a range of skills and experience in e.g. property matters, health and social care, legal, financial, pastoral care and mentoring, environmental, health and safety, information technology.
You would be expected to attend regular Board meetings every 6-8 weeks and keep up with service provision and contribute to decision making.

Organisation aims and objectives

Abbeyfield provides very sheltered accommodation providing security, independence and companionship for older people. Each resident has their own room with en-suite facilities and isprovided with all meals. There is a communal sittingroom and diningroom and laundry facilities. There is a residential housekeeper and seven residents in Allister House and a resident housekeeper and six residents in Seath House.

Restrictions

Experience required: They welcome a range of skills and experience in e.g. property matters, health and social care, legal, financial, pastoral care and mentoring, environmental, health and safety, information technology. Experience of engaging as part of a team, open mindedness, good communication skills and a positive attitude are also desirable.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: 45p per mile or public transport rates.
Training details: Informal introduction to the committee as well as meeting residents and staff. Attendance at meetings while being supported into the role by the Chair, Vice Chair and existing experienced members.
