Orkney Disability Forum runs a social activities Club. The primary aim of this club is to assist individuals in developing their social skills and building self-confidence and self-reliance.

The Tuesday Club is a social activities club for adults with learning difficulties. The club meets weekly at Orkney’s Youth Café and provides a safe environment for members to meet friends and take part in a wide range of activities including arts & crafts, board games, interactive computer games, baking/cooking, drama, and sports. Club members also enjoy going on various outings throughout the year.

If you have 2.5 hrs to spare on a Tuesday afternoon this would be the perfect volunteering opportunity for you.

Key Activities include:
• Assisting the Club leader with activities.
• Assisting with the preparation of teas and coffees for the club members.
• Ensure a safe, secure, and confidential environment for club users.
• Promote an inclusive space for the users.
• Encourage teambuilding with group activities.
• Adherence to data protection regulations is mandatory.
• Expenses can be claimed for travel to and from your volunteer placement.

Organisation aims and objectives

Umbrella organisation for disabled people. Operate demand responsive transport service for elderly and disabled people, hire out mobility scooters and wheelchairs, social activities clubs for young disabled people, stock and sell aids for independent living as well as general information.

It starts with ‘Hello’. From new mums to empty nesters, it's often surprising who is affected by loneliness. That's why we're teaming up with The Co-operative. Together we want to reach out and reconnect thousands of lonely people with their communities, and tackle a problem that is shortening lives and eroding wellbeing. The aim of the Community Connector is to support people affected by social isolation and loneliness and to help them gain confidence and to reconnect to their community in partnership with existing and new partner organisations. We will place the person at the centre of what we do and help them by offering positive encouragement, practical help and emotional support, for up to three months, depending on their needs. Community Support Volunteers (Aberdeen & North Aberdeenshire)

Join our amazing team of Community Support Volunteers in Aberdeen and North Aberdeenshire, who support people who have had one of our conditions to develop autonomy and confidence in self-management, enabling them to fully engage with their community and activities of their choosing. The service follows a pathway from hospital to community and can be delivered in a one-to-one and/or group setting in person, virtually or via telephone. We also have opportunities for volunteers to become Walk Leaders, to safely lead community health walks either in a 1:1 or group setting, while effectively supporting people living with and at high risk of our conditions. The service can be delivered to provide person-centred support for those with a communication difficulty and/or to support an individual to achieve a specific goal. A fantastic opportunity to help and make a real difference for people and the community. Excellent support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers and all assistance is greatly appreciated.
