As Treasurer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our finances, ensuring financial health, and supporting our mission to advocate, nurture and champion Black talent in the performing arts, screen and event sectors in Scotland. This voluntary role offers the chance to use your expertise without a significant time commitment. Key Responsibilities: High-Level Financial Oversight: Review financial reports and ensure the organisation’s financial stability. Board Communication: Keep the board informed about financial matters and reassure them of the organisation’s financial health. Budget Oversight: Provide occasional oversight and adjustments to budget models as needed. Flagging Issues: The treasurer should be capable of identifying and isolating financial issues, even if they are minor, and raising flags when necessary. What We’re Looking For: Experienced Professional: Ideally with a career background as a Financial Director or Financial Controller. Qualified Accountant: (Must be able to provide membership numbers for verification). Confident Communicator: Able to inspire confidence, provide reassurance and communicate financial matters clearly. Strategic Thinker: Someone who can provide high-level oversight and has a keen eye for detail. Familiarity with Charity Finance: Understanding of charity finance issues and governance, though specific software experience (e.g., SAGE) is not required. What’s in It for You? A wide range of opportunities are available and include: Fosterers – a spare room to care for a cat until a new home is found. All equipment and food etc provided. Home checkers – visiting prospective new cat owners. Fostering support and co ordination – helping fosterers and organising cat food distribution, equipment etc Equipment inventory – keeping an up to date list of all equipment and its location. Helpline – taking phone calls from the public. Food store coordinator – making sure fosterers have sufficient food of an appropriate type and caring for supplies. Kitten socialising – assisting fosterers to socialise young kittens to meeting different people and get used to them. TNR Trap, Neuter and Return – trapping feral cats, taking them to the vets to be neutered and then releasing them back to site. Involves learning about the colony and getting them used to being fed in a trap; arranging neutering with the vets; keeping the cats safe until fully recovered and able to rejoin the colony; arranging for kittens young enough to be socialised to be fostered. Transport – cats to vets etc; goods and equipment to where needed. Collecting and sorting donated goods. Storing donated goods, equipment and cat food. Fundraiser – to organise fundraising events. On line auctions – organise online auctions of donated goods. Stall helpers – assisting on stalls. Crafts – making crafts to sell. Grant applications – find and apply for appropriate grants and funding. Sunday tea staff – assisting at Sunday teas. Trustee – joining the trustees. Marketing. DIY – DIY skills to help maintain pens and equipment

Background: Toe Poke CIC is a unique Dumfries based Social Enterprise, which celebrates Scottish Football. Toe Poke Community Interest Company trades in football themed clothing and merchandise, to raise funds for grassroots clubs in Dumfries. The formal community interest company statement is that; The company’s activities will provide benefit to young football players and their clubs in Dumfries, and for football supporters advocacy projects across Scotland. Dumfries now boasts its own clothing brand, Toe Poke, which has enormous potential to grow and develop with the support of local people. The initiative also creates Scotland’s only football fans owned brand. The first range of clothing, now available on the Toe Poke website, www.toepokescotland.com is aimed at fans of our national teams – there is a poverty of choice for Scotland supporters who want to show off their colours, but don’t want to wear replica jerseys. Toe Poke operates on a completely voluntary basis. There are no staff employed by the Company, which is managed by Ian Barr. Ian has a background in economic development and events. Purpose: To manage the Company’s finances and administration linked to all of the Company’s finances. This includes invoicing, checking for orders on the shop rocket e-commerce website and liaising re our orders with Rostrum Sportswear, reporting as required to Companies House and keeping a spreadsheet of our income and expenditure. Benefits: Undertaking this role will contribute to the success and best practice governance of a unique social enterprise. Toe Poke CIC will support you to develop new skills and take part in networking and sales opportunities. The Company will also support the pathway between voluntary work and employment. Scots Recovery from Childhood Abuse is a new charity which supports survivors of childhood abuse across the Forth Valley area. We provide dedicated therapy and group support to help adult survivors find healing and empowerment. To help us deliver our services and grow, we're looking for someone who's familiar with the language and expectations of funding applications. We can identify potential grants and trusts, but your suggestions are welcome! If you can help us translate the important work that we do into successful grant applications then we'd love to hear from you!
