Sufi Festival Events Volunteer

We organise several Sufi arts inspired creative events throughout the year including fundraising concerts, wellbeing workshop programmes and every 2-3 years our major Sufi Festival weekend, a two day showcase festival taking place at the Tramway and The Hidden Gardens in the Southside of Glasgow.

The main two-day festival Sufi Festival is spread across the Tramway and the Hidden Gardens, the Sufi Festival opens a door into the art and culture of Sufism, from music, poetry and theatre, to art and craft, storytelling, and ritual ceremonies of devotion. There are also a host of talks by leading academics and Sufi scholars about the history, ideas, and relevance of Sufism in the world today, and exhibitions of Islamic artefacts. There are also workshops for festival-goers to get hands-on in the craft of Sufi art, poetry and calligraphy.

The Sufi Festival welcomes all people of all ages, abilities, faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds to come and share in an authentic exposition of Sufism organised by practicing Sufis, a cultural experience of Islamic art, culture and heritage in the heart of Scotland’s most diverse and multicultural community in the heart of Glasgow’s Southside

Come join us as a volunteer and be part of the team responsible for delivering our different creative events. This is an ongoing role offering successful volunteers an opportunity to participate at various events including the major two-day Sufi Festival (next one Insha'Allah summer 2025).

This year we have separate events taking place on:

  2. 20th July
  3. 7th September

Experience required: A friendly and outgoing personality, full of enthusiasm and a team player, willing to learn and to play an important role in making our events a wonderful experience for everyone.
Travel details: The venue is next to East Pollokshields Train Station (one stop in from Glasgow Central Station) Pollokshaws Road runs adjacent to the venue with regular bus service in and out from the city centre and Glasgow Southside.

Being a gallery volunteer is an exciting opportunity to support the temporary exhibitions at Callendar House and share your passion for the arts. Volunteers are invited to help engage our visitors with our exhibitions. Hub/Coffee Shop support for LGBT+ Charity

We are looking for more amazing volunteers to join our Four Pillars team to help support the organisations daily operations. They would primarily help run our Coffee Shop and in turn support the LGBT+ Community who use this service. Volunteers would be an extension of the staff and asked to help meet and greet service users making any new visitors feel welcome and sharing information of any groups or events taking place which may be of interest to them. Many of our service users live alone, and have little family or friends to support them, so seeing a friendly face and being given the chance to have a cuppa and a chat for a few hours is invaluable to them. We have various groups which are held each evening, and these are peer lead, and run by our volunteers. These are closed sessions, so offer a safe, confidential environment for anyone attending. Volunteers support our staff to ensure the Coffee Shop and toilets are kept clean and tidy, throughout the day. They may also be asked support any events we run throughout the year. The largest event we run is Grampian Pride. Volunteers would be notified of any other one off opportunities by the Volunteer Coordinator as well as being invited to attend any of the internal or external training sessions which may take place. They can also participate in the brand new RAVE Scheme (Rainbow Award 4 Volunteer Excellence) which is an activity rewards system to recognise and encourage volunteer dedication and skill development within the organisation. Refreshments/Sweets Volunteers

Did you know that if you volunteer to help out at the refreshment/sweet shop at any of the many varied events held at Duns Volunteer Hall you get to stay for the event, for free? We are looking for a team of people who would like to help sell sweets and drinks at our community cinema nights and other events in the hall. You choose which event you would like to help out at from the many varied events held throughout the year. No experience necessary as you will be given full training and partnered with an experienced volunteer. Get in touch to find out more. Not only will you learn a new skill (or rekindle an old one) you will also make new friends and have fun. Role Description : • Ensure tables are set out in the hall. • Obtain cash float and check. • Get stock sweets from store and display on table. • Coffee machines to be filled with water and coffee grounds and flask of hot water for tea, milk etc. • Familiarise yourself with prices in case of changes. • Serve customers with a smile. • Clear away surplus stock at the end of sales. • Note any stock shortages and leave a note or report to Events Manager. • Enjoy the show.
