Hospitality is an important part of Hot Chocolate Trust (HCT). Our youth work team is made up of volunteers and staff, who eat together before each of our youth work sessions. The team meal is an important time to connect as a team and prepare for youth work. We are looking for volunteers to cook team meals. Being a cook can be a great introduction to budgeting, preparing meals, catering to dietary requirements and food hygiene. If you already have these skills, or would like to develop them, and have some time to help we would love to hear from you. Volunteer cooks are more than welcome to sit down for the meal with the team. We really value volunteer cooks, who allow a great start for the work we do. Our youth work sessions take place on Wednesday & Thursday evenings, and Saturday afternoons. We are looking for a minimum commitment of once monthly, unless volunteers are keen to commit to more than this.

We are looking for someone to come along to our lunch club to prepare nutritious food for our guests. Duties include preparation of ingredients, peeling potatoes, vegetables and meat, plating up meals once they are cooked and keeping the work surfaces clean and tidy, loading the dishwasher once the plates and cutlery have been returned to the kitchen area, leaving the kitchen in a good condition on finish.

Express Group Fife is a mental health charity, operating in Fife for 45 years. They provide group activities and engage with people over 18 experiencing poor mental health. They are looking for Volunteer Cooks who can prepare simple cooked lunches for groups between 5 and 15 people. Groups meet once, twice or three times a week but there is no need to commit to each day at one location. Groups run from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm with lunch served around 12 noon; the cook can start at a suitable time to achieve this, finishing when clearing up has finished. The Connects service offers a volunteer matching service for grocery shopping, telephone befriending and meal delivery. Help to combat feelings of loneliness, isolation and malnutrition amongst older people (55+) by becoming a Volunteer Cook. You do not need to be a Jamie or Nigella to get involved – just the ability to prepare an extra portion of your meal once a week, to drop off with an older neighbour and have a light hearted blether with them. The role is fun, flexible and can be done at a time that suits you and your matched member!
