Student Charity Book Shop Volunteers

Description

For over 30 years the University’s second hand bookshop BookEnds been providing students not only a way to buy cheap textbooks, CDs and DVDs but also a way to make some money. We currently have over 6000 books in the shop, ranging from medical and science textbooks to literature and fiction.

BookEnds is a part of University of Aberdeen’s Student Charities Campaign which means that a large portion of what we make each year in the shop goes to local charities in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

BookEnds are always looking for new volunteers – any member of the public is very welcome to volunteer with us and all help makes a difference and is greatly appreciated (plus if you are a student, we are also looking for new members for our committee). Please get in touch!

Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Includes induction to show you how the store runs and volunteers are given committee details to allow them to get in touch with any questions. New volunteers will also be accompanied by a committee member on shift at all times for the first few weeks.

The Foundation for Advancement of Child Education and Youth Empowerment (FACEYOUTH) is a charitable organization, committed to improving the lives of youths and children in Aberdeen and overseas, using the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, as a framework for action. The organization had its first charity outreach in 2016 and has over the years, impacted people from underserved communities positively, regardless of age, gender, religion and background. For over 5 years, FACEYOUTH has been supporting individuals, families and communities through our various projects - from awarding full scholarships to indigent students to hosting sessions on Mental Health Awareness, with the aim to relieve disadvantage of any sorts and give people the opportunity to lead fulfilling lives. There are a great number of ways you can help support the work of FACEYOUTH as a volunteer. Current volunteer opportunities with us include Support Co-Ordinator, Fundraising and Event Volunteers, Marketing Co-Ordinator and PA to our Board. CPR Champion - West Dunbartonshire

As a CPR Champion you will support St John Scotland as part of their partnership with Save a Life for Scotland. You will get the opportunity to attend various events within your local area with other St John Scotland CPR Champions and CPR Leads ensuring that participants are equipped to undertake potentially lifesaving bystander CPR according to current policies, regulations and protocol. You will also be trained on demonstrating defibrillator usage to participants. Main tasks: - Deliver Bystander CPR awareness to various people at different events within your local area - Defibrillator Demonstration (training is provided)
