Marie Curie was a scientist who discovered radium and polonium, contributing to finding treatments for cancer. This work continues to inspire our charity's mission to help people and their families living with a terminal illness make the most of the time they have together by delivering expert care, emotional support and research. Marie Curie care for more than 40,000 terminally ill people in the UK a year. The services we offer include providing Nursing care in people’s own home including emotional support. Across the UK we have nine hospices which provide specialist care and support, in Scotland these are located in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Our support teams help anyone affected by terminal illness, online and over the phone. Whether someone needs practical support caring for their loved one, or emotional support once they’ve died, our teams are here to help. This role involves coordinating collections in venues in your community e.g. supermarkets, shopping centres. From filling the rotas, to being the point of contact for volunteers, to banking funds raised. Induction training will be provided alongside one to one support by your local Community Fundraiser. Organised, positive attitude, good communication skills, heart for the community, responsible. No experience needed as will be trained and supported throughout the role.

St John Scotland promotes and supports the placing of Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) in communities across Scotland. St John Scotland helps local community groups by donating towards the cost of the equipment and offering free Bystander CPR and defibrillator awareness sessions.

How can you help? We are recruiting a team of Charity Ambassadors to help develop engagement across each Region, to maximise opportunities to raise funds and increase support from the Community. You will be actively involved with The Charity on the ground and play a key role working alongside the Regional Community Fundraisers, as and when required:  Identifying various opportunities in your local area to raise awareness of The Charity & our wide range of Fundraising Campaigns. This could anything from contacting your local supermarket’s ‘Community Champion’ and organising an information stand and bucket collection or supporting a Supporter Group meet up in your area.  Representing The Charity in your area, by undertaking presentations & cheque collections at schools, local companies & community groups  Helping us to recruit new fundraisers and supporting those who are already signed up for a campaign, in your area. For example, attending a local Twilight Walk or promoting The Big Bake to local companies. What impact will you have? By amplifying The Charity's voice in your local area, you'll help increase the impact of fundraising campaigns & help grow funds and support us in accelerating a cure for everyone affected by a brain tumour diagnosis. About Pain Concern: Pain Concern is a charity providing information and support to people with pain and those who care for them, whether family, friends or healthcare professionals. We are looking for someone with an interest in chronic paint o help raise funds for Pain Concern by coordinating fundraising events. What would you be doing: • Maintain communications those fundraising in aid of Pain Concern and provide support • With support from the Fundraising Team, Fundraising Steering Group and your fellow volunteers, help to plan and deliver events and activities to raise funds and awareness • Send out fundraising packs • Liaise with Media Team for publicising fundraisers and events • Maintain a list of fundraising opportunities such as walks and marathons • Help develop and maintain the fundraising section of Pain Concern’s website • Research opportunities to promote community fundraising • Develop links with local businesses • Research and organise local fundraising events • Recruit community fundraisers to support events in their area • Attend events organised by our fundraisers as the ‘face’ of Pain Concern • Maintain a database of contact and other ad hoc admin support for the team as required Is this role right for me: We are looking for an individual who possesses some or all of the below experiences, skills and qualities.  • Budgeting • Ability to meet deadlines • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Experience in event management • Interest in chronic pain • Ability to work flexibly with enthusiasm and commitment • Strong IT skills and knowledge of MS Office Availability and location Minimum commitment of 6 months.
