Role at a Glance: As an Events Volunteer, you'll be at the forefront of generating vital funds to support our Veterans. Marie Curie was a scientist who discovered radium and polonium, contributing to finding treatments for cancer. This work continues to inspire our charity's mission to help people and their families living with a terminal illness make the most of the time they have together by delivering expert care, emotional support and research. Marie Curie care for more than 40,000 terminally ill people in the UK a year. The services we offer include providing Nursing care in people’s own home including emotional support. Across the UK we have nine hospices which provide specialist care and support, in Scotland these are located in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Our support teams help anyone affected by terminal illness, online and over the phone. Whether someone needs practical support caring for their loved one, or emotional support once they’ve died, our teams are here to help. Help to raise awareness and funds for Marie Curie in your local community. Your role may involve you looking out for local fundraising opportunities, promoting our fundraising campaigns to your community and encouraging others to support the charity e.g. local businesses. Putting up promotional materials in your area. Induction training will be provided alongside one to one support by your local Community Fundraiser. To act as a membership secretary for the Ratho Branch only of Seagull Trust Cruises Role Summary ... This is a new role which has previously been handled by the Branch Secretary and which can be developed by the volunteer according to skills and aptitude. It involves working with Branch to recruit new volunteers, maintaining records of existing volunteers and generally keeping in contact with them. Most communications are by email and basic IT skills are needed. The Branch has a reception centre at Ratho giving an opportunity to meet other volunteers but the role would be essentially "working from home". The volunteer would be welcome to join a boat crew and join cruises if desired. The Membership Secretary will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth membership processes and effective communication within the organization

Lead Volunteers are essential to the running of our shop. Be involved in the planning and running of the shop, such as risk assessments, fire escape routes, volunteer health and safety, team involvement, supporting in events and pop-up stalls, and the responsibility of the day to day running of the shop in the absence of the shop manager. All Sue Ryder Shop Volunteers have the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of the day to day running of the store including but not limited to…. - Sorting and pricing stock - Stock replenishment - General customer service - Till work - Window Dressing - PAT Testing - Ebay and social media use Our lead volunteers receive an enhanced level of training enabling them to take on additional levels of responsibility. This training is both in the store with colleagues, and via eLearning.
