Description

This is an exciting and varied opportunity to live and work on this wonderful remote island. Work with our Handa Ranger staff undertaking a wide range of different tasks including seabird monitoring (kittiwakes, fulmars, guillemots, razorbills), practical work, landing and meeting visitors.

What we are looking for:

Experience of communal living ideally in a remote setting
Someone who ‘wears well’ with others.
The role requires a good level of health and fitness and a sense of humour
Some fieldwork experience useful
Self motivated & willingness to be flexible

It also manages over 100 wildlife reserves across Scotland.

Frequency and commitment details

Full time commitment required but 2 days off per week provided.

Restrictions

Aged 18 or over.
Experience required: You must have: • Prior wildlife monitoring experience • Be comfortable working at heights and around cliffs; • A flexible attitude to working hours and communal living; • The ability to thrive in a communal environment, with minimal personal space; • Good level of health and fitness; • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently and as part of a tight team; • Good communication skills; • A love of being outside- whatever the weather! It would be good to have: • Prior seabird monitoring experience; • Good practical experience and ability with a variety of hand tools; • Good all-round wildlife knowledge; • Desire to pursue career in conservation.
Travel details: You will need to make your own travel arrangements to the ferry on the mainland. This can be discussed with staff before starting.
