About the Role
• Following guidance from senior management to support the set up and running of the event
• Signposting to correct areas of the event to complete activities on offer
• Engaging with participants throughout the event
• Working alongside sport coaches and members of staff to make sure the event runs smoothly
• Ensuring Health & Safety of participants during event
Locations, Days & Times
May vary depending on programme need – will be discussed with volunteer prior to starting. Location may be across North Lanarkshire Sports Development Venues and timings vary depending on class involvement.

Experience required: • Hardworking – willing to work within a team that is there to host an event with a large amount of tasks throughout to be completed. • Enthusiastic, out-going personal and motivated individual. • Confidence to engage with participants of the event • Interest in sport or physical activity
Travel details: Various locations in North Lanarkshire

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Training details: • Induction given on the night of the event and thorough walk through of the venue/event space. • Consistent support throughout the event from management, coaches, and other members of staff.

10K Event Assistant

About the Role The Cumbernauld 10K 2024 will return on Sunday 15th September 2024 in partnership with Suicide Prevention, North Lanarkshire. The event which is conducted every year is always a popular event and attracts many participants from all ranges of ability levels, with over 600 participants already signed up to take part. The route itself provides a fantastic experience as it combines both road and trail elements as it takes in the picturesque scenic settings of Broadwood Loch and surrounding areas. We will need volunteer support on the day of the event for the following duties: • Carpark stewarding/sign posting • Route marshall point station • Distributing medals, route maps and literature to participants • Assisting with registration duties Locations, Days & Times • Sunday 15th September 2024 • Morning to Early Afternoon • Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld • What will you get out of it? • Experience at one of North Lanarkshire’s biggest sporting events ran for the community. • Experience working within a sporting environment. • The ability to enhance the lives of participants through engagement and fun activities. • Ability to be involved in future projects/events if applicable.

Support Session Volunteer

Could you support unpaid carers or people with disabilities to access benefits? Could you help someone find local services? Could you help someone understand the information they have been given about their care and support? Could you support or lead a group of people on a topic of interest? You could help improve the quality of someone’s life. This role is ideal for social work students, an interest in the care sector or retired professionals. Support Session Volunteers help our clients with general advocacy, supporting people with a variety of challenges. This helps us to reduce waitlists and support more individuals by: • Helping clients understand about advocacy • Supporting clients to self-advocate with our tool kits • Signposting clients to other services where required • Supporting the service to deliver “collective” advocacy sessions • Light Touch Advocacy • Supporting advocates with casework • Promotion of services and the organisation • Logging activity onto our systems Volunteer, Ben’s priorities changed after a serious illness. “I wanted to give something back. It’s really rewarding as you get to use your knowledge and skills for a really good purpose.” You’ll develop skills in communication and confidentiality, add experience and knowledge to your CV, and know you’re making a genuine difference to people’s lives.
