Description

The FARESHARE warehouse at Kendal Crescent Alness has been a huge success and we are now delivering 40% of the surplus food into the region to over 40 members. We are looking for extra support to get our van on the road an extra 4/5 days a month which will allow us to get more surplus food out to our members.
We are looking for people who can commit to 1 or 2 days a month, during the week, to deliver surplus food to groups across the region. Full training and safety equipment will be given. We have our own van.
This is a real opportunity to support your communities. We expect to deliver between 160/200 tonnes of surplus food to our member this year. We want to increase this.

Organisation aims and objectives

5.8 million people in the UK live in ‘ deep poverty’ and cannot afford everyday essentials such as food. At the same time around 3.9 million tonnes of food is wasted each year by the food and drink industry. FareShare has a unique mission: to fight hunger and its underlying causes by redistributing surplus food to hundreds of local charities across the UK. By ensuring good food is not wasted, we turn an environmental problem into a solution, helping to feed thousands of vulnerable people every day.
