You will be matched with a child/young person (4 to 16 years) who has additional support needs e.g. Learning Disability, Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s or their siblings. Spending regular 1:1 time with you, weekly for 3 or 4 hours, they will become more confident and have fun in the process. You will develop a positive and trusting relationship with the child you are matched with, encouraging and enabling them to go to places and try new things that interest them with you.
1:1 support - doing activities with children both at home & local community which provides regular respite for parent/carers. You will build children’s confidence & social skills & you will both have fun in the process. You can work alongside experienced staff if you want to gain experience in child care.

3-4 hours weekly on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday for a minimum of 6 months to help a child to achieve their goals.
Experience required: Must be good listener with an ability to build positive and equal relationships with children and young people. They must be reliable,punctual and patient and have a real desire to enable children and young people develop new skills and confidence. An ability to use their own initiative.
Travel details: Across Edinburgh in the local community and at venues where activitiy that young person wants to to participate/become involved.

Expenses details: Travel expenses and any expenses incurred when spending time with the child/ young person, providing it has been agreed in advance, are paid on receipt of expenses claim and receipts.
Training details: Induction training is delivered to small groups over 2 x 3.5 hr. sessions at days and times that best suit the group.
