MISS (Miscarriage Information Support Service) is a registered charity. We are a miscarriage support service covering all of Scotland for anyone who has experienced baby loss. We are looking to recruit trustees to the MISS board who have a mix of skills and experience to bring to our existing board. This is to enhance our current board and any background is welcome including retail, HR or IT. Board meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis and virtually, therefore there is no preference to location or where you are based. All help makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated. Sue Ryder Charity Shops raise millions of pounds each year to enable our charity to deliver hospice and neurological care for more conditions than any other UK charity. As a volunteer in our shop, not only would you be meeting new friends, gaining skills and experience, but you'd also be directly supporting us to care for people when they really need it. This role (which can be a shared role), provides practical support to the shop manager in their absence. You will: *be trained to a high level, and be a key holder *open and close the shop when necessary to support the manager *support a team of volunteers to sort donations, keep the shop stocked up and to serve customers *provide excellent customer service and making sure that everyone in the team is doing the same *help train new volunteers, helping us to collect as much Gift Aid as possible and cashing up Ideally we'd love you to commit to a regular shift each week, although the role is quite flexible it does bring responsibility so we need you to be reliable. Good is support provided to all volunteers. Including to shadow a confident volunteer, be able to take their time if need be when learning, ask as many questions and will have an informal chat with the volunteer co-ordinator at any point. This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about community development and working with communities to use their own assets to make a real difference to improving life in the Multiple Sclerosis community? Our ideal candidate will have experience of working with volunteers, although this is not essential. More importantly they will be a great communicator with fantastic organisational skills, who will play a key part in looking after our volunteers, helping them to grow and ensuring our volunteering processes run smoothly and efficiently. They will be self-motivated with a naturally collaborative working style; and thrive working in a small, enthusiastic team making a difference to the MS community. Working with the Volunteer Support Team, the Group Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of volunteering, delegating work and supporting the effective development and delivery of services in the area. You will help to support and retain volunteers to deliver our services – leading on volunteer recruitment, communication, and stewardship of the Coordinating Team with a commitment to equality and inclusion as well as healthy and safe working practices.
