The Royal Scottish Forestry Society, formed in 1854, is an educational charity focussing on promoting the understanding of trees, woods and forestry. Every year RSFS puts on what we believe to be the most extensive programme of practical forestry events across Scotland. This activity is being expanded into practical training events. The Society has published a semi-academic journal, Scottish Forestry, since 1858 promoting all aspects of good practice in forestry. All back issues are available to Members via our website. The Society has a mix of individual and organisational Members. Our membership includes professional foresters and managers, woodlands owners and many others with an interest in trees and woods. RSFS is also the parent entity of Cashel Forest Trust, a charity based near Balmaha, in East Loch Lomond. Cashel Forest Trust owns a 1,300-hectare estate comprising a visitor centre, 5 km of recreational paths, a hydro-electric scheme, 300 Ha of native woodland, 500 Ha of peatland under restoration and 500 Ha of montane and open hillside. Cashel welcomes more than 10,000 visitors a year with an interest in natural ecosystems, native woodland and citizen science. Orkney ZeroWaste are currently seeking to recruit Trustees (Directors) and would welcome expressions of interest from people of all backgrounds who have a passion for reducing, reusing and recycling waste in order to help protect Orkney’s rich natural environment. Trustees share the collective responsibility for the effective governance and development of Orkney ZeroWaste, setting the charity’s strategy and major policies in accordance with the Charity's, vision, mission, and values. They are responsible for monitoring performance against the charity’s strategic aims and objectives, scrutinising the management of risk, and fulfilling the statutory governance obligations. They are also ambassadors for the charity and are expected to fully embody our values. Roles are unremunerated, but reasonable expenses (e.g., travel) will be reimbursed. Key activities Orkney ZeroWaste’s Board meets monthly. These meetings take place either virtually or in Orkney. Trustees are expected to commit to attending meetings, where possible, as well as to join suitable Sub-Committees/ groups, based on their skills and expertise. We also encourage Trustees to engage in other activities where possible to support the work of the charity.

Aberdeen Civic Society have great opportunities for people to help volunteering as Executive Committee Members. The Executive Committee work to advance the objectives of the Society which are: • To stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the city of Aberdeen and its surroundings. • To encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general amenity and historic interest. • To encourage high standards of architectural planning. • The Society pursues these aims by means of illustrated lectures, discussions, visits and walkabouts. An important feature of the Society's work is its Awards and Commendations Scheme. Through this, encouragement and recognition are given to those who have contributed to the amenity of the city by means of new buildings or the restoration and preservation of old buildings. The Society keeps itself informed on planning applications made to the City Council. It submits comments and suggestions, and lodges objections when proposals are considered detrimental to the city. Committee members are sought to help with the following activities: • to arrange the annual programme of talks • to organise the Society's social events- the annual Supper and Summer Outing • to research, discuss and respond to current Aberdeen City planning applications and to participate in public consultations on urban planning • to improve the Society's communication with the public through social and other media A fantastic opportunity to help with the preservation, development and improvement of features of general amenity and historic interest in Aberdeen.
