Rubislaw Park Care Home for older people provides a level of care and support to ensure residents maintain their independence and individuality.

We believe that through developing an atmosphere of individual care and attention with our service users contributes to their well-being and comfort, enabling residents to enjoy life to its fullest potential.

The Card Making Group is a fun and vital part of this and we currently have opportunities for volunteers to assist at the group with our residents in making cards. All equipment will be supplied and all volunteer help is greatly appreciated.

A fantastic and enjoyable opportunity to help a care home setting and which will help enrich the lives of older residents. This is a very rewarding opportunity as it is very satisfying. A good cup of tea/coffee, a fine piece and good company awaits all volunteers who help us.

Organisation aims and objectives

Rubislaw Park is a private, luxury care home in Aberdeen, surrounded by beautiful mature gardens and set against a backdrop of woodlands. We provide exemplary standards of Residential Care, Respite Care, Dementia Care and Whole-life Nursing Care, taking an individual-centred approach to care. We believe that developing an atmosphere of individual care and attention our service users will contribute to their well-being and comfort enabling them to enjoy life to their fullest potential.

Experience required: Confident and able to chat freely. Enjoy work with older people.It would be beneficial if volunteers have knowledge of card making/crafts.

Taster available: Yes
Training details: Good support, induction and relevant training is provided to all volunteers. Care home staff will also be available at all times to support.

Do you enjoy making memories with older people, talking to a small group and helping entertain and help others have fun. You will assist organising an activities programme and help with finer details to make the day memorable. If you have not called bingo you will learn. The group will be with older ladies mostly who have walking difficulties and are not able to get out the house or live alone. You will set a weekly activity programme for once per week. Available for 12:30-3:15 in the afternoon on a Monday and or Thursday. You will be supported by a centre staff member and assist compiling the activity and doing a stint clearing up.

Activities Volunteer - Orkney

Braeburn Court provides respite care and short breaks in St Margaret’s Hope for older people. We are looking for volunteers to help with social activities such as visiting for a chat, reading newspapers or books aloud, making crafts or playing music. Dementia Music Group Volunteer

We are looking to establish a dementia musical movement group in East Kilbride. The group will be an hour comprising of chair exercises to music, a musical activity and a cool down session. Carers are welcome to join in the fun or enjoy a cuppa in ‘The Meeting Place Café’. The group will be led by a staff member and volunteers will assist the group leader in activities, chat to group members and make them feel welcome, undertake admin tasks such as taking register, handing out paperwork as required. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are keen to help. Musical experience is not essential but will be welcomed with open arms! The club is an opportunity to help reduce loneliness and isolation, for carers to socialise and people living with dementia to benefit from the amazing power of music. In return, we will provide appropriate training and regular supervision sessions with the Dementia Services Development Officer, invitations to volunteer events and payment of reasonable expenses. This is a fantastic opportunity to help and make a real difference – all help is greatly appreciated.
